Somewhat off-topic: I ordered a couple in stock items from them last weekend and they took a week to ship. Is that typical in your experience?

I’ve always had a preordered item in my previous orders so no experience with just ordering in stock items. I just appreciate that my stuff from them doesn’t arrive smashed to s***.

Wild Things 4K went down to $33.99. I pre-ordered it a week ago when it was $43 eventually expecting a price drop, so that's good.

Not exactly a "deal" but these limited sets quickly go out of print. Robocop is already OOP.

My Wild Things 4K set just arrived today. Can't wait to see this again. I think I saw it twice previously. Once on DVD and a second time on cable. I've never owned it on any kind of HD let alone physical media format.

Below is the artwork for the Running out of Time that Arrow said was coming when the Eureka edition was announced. This is a US release.

Flatliners UHD is getting announced too.

Fran Simeoni is leaving Arrow and starting another label: Radiance Films.

Can’t say I was expecting to wake up to that this morning! And only 2 releases in August. What leaked was it.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

From James Flower:

THREAD: Hello! So you might be wondering why this month's AV announcements are looking much slimmer than usual. Don't worry, it's not a signal that things are going down the tubes at Arrow HQ - quite the opposite. (1/8)

As you may be aware, we've had a few QC issues recently that have necessitated replacement programs as well as some embarrassing errors on our packaging. This has not gone without note at Arrow HQ and we’ve been discussing ways to prevent it in future. (2/8)

While the majority of these issues have been unanticipated and we've acted as quickly as possible to correct them, we're well aware that it only takes a handful of mistakes to endanger some fans' confidence in us, especially when replacement programs are involved. (3/8)

With that in mind, we've decided to only release two titles each in August and September, in order to discuss and implement an even more rigorous QC process, as well as giving us the space to finish work on some especially demanding projects (hello, Shawscope Vol 2!). (4/8)

This "circuit breaker" will also give us the opportunity to restructure the team following some sad departures (farewell,
@Frangipane13
!) with these aims in mind. We're also on the lookout for QC freelancers; please send your CVs to [email protected] to be considered. (5/8)

Will this mean we'll promise that there will never be any mistakes or replacement progs ever again? Of course not; sometimes these things are truly beyond our control. But we recognise that there are weaknesses in our current workflow and are doing what we can to fix this. (6/8)

We hope this goes some way to repairing any damage to our reputation and customer goodwill. We care very deeply about our releases providing the best experience from top to bottom, and take it seriously when we fall short of this aim. (7/8)

We'll be back to our usual size schedule in October, which work is already well underway on. The coming year should be our most exciting yet, with something to please everyone, including some of our most-requested titles! (8/8)

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Can't say I've kept to date on Arrow's QC issues – and not sure I'd necessarily notice all of the issues that have been reported – but it's good to see them taking this approach and taking on freelancers to help out. Would love to chime in myself in certain areas.

Makes me wonder if I need to find out if there are replacement programs I need to take advantage of.

By the way, what's the difference between the two US Running Out Of Time sets, besides the superior (though still somewhat bastardized) original poster art? Is it just a slipcover or something?

Yeah, it's just artwork. They've been doing that a lot recently (mostly for Dario Argento movies).

I'm not sure if there's a more comprehensive list somewhere, but I know 12 Monkeys, Donnie Darko, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Demons, Dune (packaging-related damage, not an authoring mishap) all had replacement programs.

Thanks. That helps. Don't have any of those, so I guess I'm alright so far.

I might be interested in Flatliners. I don't think I've seen more than a couple of times. But, I recall liking it.

The remake from a few years ago on the other hand is one of the worst remakes of all-time.

Picked up a copy of the Robocop 4K LE at local Best Buy.

Someone hid the last copy behind a stack of other Blu-Rays

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I watched my Wild Things 4K set last night.

I had not seen the movie in at least 15 years. It's unfortunate that this type of erotic thriller isn't being made anymore in Hollywood anymore with the level of sexuality in it. But, this isn't a review thread, so that's all I will say. The movie still holds up pretty well.

I did watch one of the extras after the movie. There is a new 14 minute interview with Denise Richards. She's definitely had some "work" done. And her voice sounds very different from when she was younger. It's a very raspy smoker's voice. But, I enjoyed her interview and hearing her reflect back on the movie.

Yes, I understand that's a very old article, but is Arrow Films going to release Shaw Brothers movies on Blu Ray or not? Was that ever announced anywhere?

I’m the total opposite, I’m pretty glad stuff like this isn’t made anymore. And who the hell needs more weirdos like Joe Eszterhas making money from the worst dialogue ever written. I hadn’t seen this probably since the DVD release and decided to check it out before I thought about buying it. That would have been wasted money.

They’ve released quite a few so far: the twelve-movie ShawScope box set, Come Drink with Me, and The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter.

ShawScope Vol. 2 is coming later this year, and we might see some additional standalones. (I’m hoping for Super Inframan for sure.) Among the 14 movies in the second volume are Invincible Shaolin, The Magnificent Ruffians, The Kid with the Golden Arm, Ten Tigers of Kwangtung, and The Boxer’s Omen.

The Robocop steelbook (UHD) is back in-stock The Robocop steelbook (UHD) is back in-stock
at Amazon and Barnes & Noble ($24.99), for anyone who wants both cuts of the movie.

Also, Arrow titles are 50% off at Barnes & Noble right now! And Amazon has started to price-match.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Noticed Arrow’s Shaw Brothers box is $90 and part of the B2G1 sale. Probably not easy to find two other sets in the range, but if you could that one would be a record deal. Also noticed some other Arrow Asian boxed sets in the B2G1 batch, though I’m not sure if they’re price-matching B&N: Yokai Monsters, Daimaijin, both Gamera boxes.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Finally pulled the trigger on Amazon and ordered the Robocop UHD Steelbook, Tremors 4K regular edition (the deluxe version is now way too crazy expensive to purchase), and An American Werewolf In London Deluxe/Limited edition UHD (which I think is the lowest it has been, and is even a bit over 50% off msrp at Amazon).

The local B&N store closest to where I live had all of their copies of True Romance out early.

I was able to pick up one of the 4K LEs in addition to the 4K LE of An American Werewolf In London

I got my stuff in already: Mill of the Stone Women, Andromeda Strain and 12 Monkeys.

Did I read somewhere that 12 Monkeys had an error? Do I need to see about a disc exchange?
