I've been waiting for a great release of Massacre at Central High for a while now. Will hopefully order the Steelbook in a week or so.
I still have my German Hardbox DVD release that I bought at a Horror Convention over 13-years ago.

The Go-Go Boys: The Inside Story of Cannon Films is coming to Blu-Ray July 20th
I might have to look into getting this. I loved the other Cannon films documentary Electric Boogaloo.

Nice to finally see this getting a release after 6+ years. It was rushed into production specifically to get ahead of ELECTRIC BOOGALOO, which had by then already been shooting for quite some time. GO-GO pretty much fell off the radar in 2014, though, while BOOGALOO got a strong fest run, DVD and/or Blu releases in various markets, and previously-unseen extended versions of Hartley's interviews still keep popping up on new disc releases. This one had the participation and blessing of Golan and Globus, but the roster of "we-were-there" interview subjects in BOOGALOO was endless by comparison. Curious to see if this brings anything else to the table, even if it doesn't look nearly as fun.

I'll buy that disc as I'm sure it'll have plenty of interviews from people who weren't a part of Electric Boogaloo.

It definitely has a few names who weren't in BOOGALOO, though far fewer recognizable ones and seemingly a whole bunch who likely just praise G&G to the skies. There's also some overlap (Dudikoff, Zefferelli, Boaz Davidson) so it will be interesting to see if and how their contributions differ from BOOGALOO. Still seems weird that the best and seemingly only 'celebrity fan' they could get to contextualize on camera was . . . Eli Roth.

I’d like to pick this up, but the preorder price on Amazon is absurd. Will wait for a sale.

Re: MVD, Synapse, and Blue Underground Releases Masterthread
So, I finally bought a splitter that would let me bypass the dead HDMI port on my ageing 4K tv (still has a great pic, but one of the ports did die on me) and watched a blu ray for the first time in many months. I decided to watch Split Second (which is a nice and efficient 90+ odd minutes) and I thought it looked and sounded great (dialogue was never hard to understand). The film has a great cast and remains a quirky little dystopian future, sci fi creature flick. The funny thing is that the film might be a bit too efficient in that you never really do get a good explanation of why the creature that the good guys throw down with at the end came to exist. They mention the "creature" acquires dna from each of its victims (by eating a piece of their heart, etc.) but you have no clue as to how this creature really came to be, a creature that is smart enough to take the time to carve symbols into your chest or kidnap you instead of ripping out your heart (an obsession that we never get an explanation for as to why the focus on hearts).
Regardless, a nice quick lean and mean film that I picked up on Amazon in January for $16.99 so a great price (even with a 40% off price it is still priced at close to $24, so I lucked out). I am just starting to dive into the extras...so many extras, but it is nice that a film like this has so many extra bits to dive into. I think I mentioned a few pages earlier in this thread that I saw this film in theaters and the weirdest thing is that for some reason I put the notion briefly into my head that this film starred Rutger Hauer and Keanu Reeves, so odd that I thought Keanu was in the film but that would have been a cool pairing.

Synapse announced their UHD release of Demons and Demons II, with some of their worst cover art ever:
As far as extras go, this is a much more compelling release, but it’s not enough to make me want to replace my Arrow UHD set.
I did buy both Arrow and Synapse’s Blu-ray releases a few years back, though. And it looks like the majority of the extras are on those steelbooks.

Re: MVD, Synapse, and Blue Underground Releases Masterthread
My BD for the Go Go Boys documentary came in today and I just finished watching it. Honestly I didn't really care for it. While Electric Boogaloo was fun & focused more on the movies made by Cannon and which ones were good and bad. This one more focused on the relationship and divorce of Golan and Globus. It got quite dry after they stopped talking about Cannon. It looked like this film was shot in 2014 shortly before Golan's death. Probably 70% of the interviews are in Hebrew with subtitles as well.
I found Golan delusional and stubborn. He got angry and defensive when the interviewer wanted to ask about the movies that bombed like Superman IV. Golan refused to talk about it. Globus didn't talk about it too much, but seemed to agree that Superman IV should have been their opportunity to make it big and they blew it.
It's watchable, but I didn't find it as compelling as Electric Boogaloo.

Though far from my favorite movie that Blue Underground has brought to Ultra HD Blu-ray, Two Evil Eyes looks and (especially) sounds quite a bit better in UHD than on the limited edition from a couple of years back. As ever, I've written a review.

There’s lots of discussion about this upcoming release on that “other site”. People are already disappointed that it’s not a new scan (apparently there is a new scan but it won’t be included since the director wants the moon for it), that the version without hardcore inserts won’t also be included, and one European fellow who is sure that this release is a bootleg since he claims that Synapse doesn’t have the rights.

Two more Ultra HD reviews! Maniac Cop 2 (Highly Recommended) and Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence (Rent It / Stream It).

I wasn't able to get UHD screenshots for Badge of Silence, but I did try to get some really good comparison shots between the 2013 and 2021 Blu-ray discs to highlight some of the updated visuals.

Vinegar Syndrome will be releasing a 4K UHD & BD of Thriller: A Cruel Picture (1973) next May.
It's under an exclusive license from Christofer Vibenius (according to the Press Release).
Makes sense that Synapse Films would want to make the most of their time left with the title.

Looks like Synapse Films is working with Arrow Video & DiabolikDVD to bring Phenomena 4K UHD to the States.
Per Don May Jr.'s Instagram:
"Synapse Films and our friends across the world, Arrow Films have a special Black Friday Announcement for you all! Now up for special pre-order on our site and DiabolikDVD. This collaboration is exciting for our companies. We Look forward to working together on future titles."

Re: MVD, Synapse, and Blue Underground Releases Masterthread

I just posted my review of The Toolbox Murders now that Blue Underground has brought that to Ultra HD Blu-ray. And because I put way too much into all my reviews, I also have 12 audio clips comparing different soundtracks, mostly frame-specific screenshot comparisons of three different discs, and all that. The 4K remaster looks marvelous, and certainly after re-reading my cringe-inducing previous review from 2009, I've found quite a bit more to appreciate about the movie than in years past.
