Are Disney discs usually region locked? If not I might put in a pre-order at Amazon UK.

It says Region Free over at BD dot com - there's a dedicated thread to it.

The lack of usable MA digital copies makes the UK version worth at least $50 less.

Disney Blu-rays are region free.

Not always. Ratatouille 3D Blu-ray in the UK is Region B locked. It's a rare occurrence, and that Ratatouille disc is from 5 years ago, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. The likelyhood that this set will be region locked is low, and thus it could be considered a "safe bet" it'll be region free, but it's never known for certain unless the distributor announces it as such, or someone gets a copy and tests it.

Wonder if there will be a different non-exclusive set announced. I would guess so as I don’t see why Disney would release the films on 4K but only as an exclusive set to a particular retailer.

This set might be a bit different. With the Marvel set, the UHD releases were already available separately, so it wasn't the only way to get UHD copies of the films. We also know that the UK is getting "standard edition" Blu-ray and DVD sets. It may be that there's a cheaper "standard edition" UHD set, but they're holding back on announcing it so that Best Buy can get a lot of pre-orders.

They like money, so of course there will be, though maybe some things stay exclusive to this set.

Yeah, just wasn’t sure if maybe the 4K set was exclusive and that there maybe would be a standard Blu-ray set or what. I think I’ll get the set, probably from Amazon UK. Normally I don’t go for the big sets anymore, but it’s Star Wars and I don’t own any of them and it’s a nice looking set.

Ordered from Amazon UK. The app is showing my total in GBP, but I selected the option to turn the currency converter on. I haven’t ordered anything from them in a while and can’t remember is that just how it shows in their system or do I need to modify the order so I’m charged in US dollars?

Best Buy has a deal today and tomorrow - Buy $150 in eGift Cards and get a $15 bonus that can be used in February.. Can be used up to 3 times. You could buy two, use them now on this and get $30 for later. Not quite as cheap as the UK set but you would get the digital codes

When the UK Brexits out of the EU, their economy will tank, and the Star Wars blu-ray set will be able to be had for about $10 US when the pound devalues.

As much as I want the 4K for the first 6 movies, I'll set this one out until I have the original unaltered versions of Episodes IV-VI (which may be never). My Blu-rays will do for now.

Yeah, sitting this one out too but because I don't like the PT. As much as I'd love to the the original OT, I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

I’m probably just going to get a copy of the Harmy editions at some point. I’d rather not have to resort to that, but they’re putting me in a corner with it if I ever want to own the films in higher quality than my DVD set (which still has alterations anyways).

It amounts to pennies more per dollar, but it's just something I've been curious about. With the much higher international postage rate changes coming next year, my importing days are likely to be much fewer and farther between anyway.

If you pay in USD and eat the higher Amazon exchange rate, does that then lock you into that total price? If you have months out pre-orders, the general currency exchange rate can fluctuate enough , especially on a high ticket item like this, that it might actually end up being naturally higher by the time of release than the total cost you initially signed off on. Earlier this year, even into late spring/early summer IIRC, the exchange rate was around 1.22/1. The last couple months at least it's been hovering around just under 1.3/1. Some pre-orders I made I know where when the currency was lower.
