Steven Soderbergh's The Limey - 4K remaster
SANTA MONICA, CA (November 12, 2019) — One of legendary director Steven Soderbergh’s (Sex, Lies and Videotape; Contagion; the Ocean’s trilogy) most critically acclaimed films, The Limey, returns remastered in time for its 20th anniversary on Digital 4K Ultra HD and On Demand December 10 from Lionsgate. A modern-day film noir told in broad daylight, The Limey is “a masterful bit of revenge cinema” (Frederick Bilchert, Vice) worth revisiting in stunning 4K starring Terence Stamp (Unfinished Song; The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert; Superman II), Lesley Ann Warren (Clue, TV’s “American Princess,” “The Cool Kids”), Luis Guzmán (Traffic, Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love), Barry Newman (Bowfinger, Daylight, Vanishing Point), and Academy Award® nominee Peter Fonda (1969, Best Original Screenplay, Easy Rider; 1997, Best Actor, Ulee’s Gold). After his release from a British prison, a former professional thief (Terence Stamp) finds out his daughter has been murdered in Los Angeles and travels there to learn the truth about her death. With the investigative assistance of another ex-con, he comes face-to-face with the high-rolling record producer with whom his daughter was having an affair. Experience four times the resolution of full HD with 4K Ultra HD, which includes Dolby Vision HDR, bringing this stylish and inventive film to life through ultra-vivid picture quality. When compared to a standard picture, Dolby Vision can deliver spectacular colors never before seen on a screen, highlights that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are 10 times darker. The Limey Digital 4K Ultra HD will be available for the suggested retail price of $12.99. PROGRAM INFORMATION Year of Production: 1999 Title Copyright: The Limey © 1999, Artwork & Supplementary Materials © 2019 Lions Gate Entertainment Inc. All Rights Reserved. Type: Theatrical Release Rating: R for violence and language. Genre: Crime, Drama, Mystery Closed-Captioned: English Subtitles: N/A Feature Run Time: 89 Minutes Format: 2160p Ultra High Definition 16x9 (1.85:1) Presentation with Dolby Vision Audio: English 5.1 Dolby Audio™ Maybe Criterion will put it out? I'm not sure about Lionsgate licensing titles though... I had thought Soderbergh had gotten the rights back himself, so maybe he made some deal for separate digital and physical releases. Here is a good interview with him as well: Steven Soderbergh on the 20th Anniversary of ‘The Limey’ A long, candid conversation with the filmmaker on his pulp masterpiece — and Netflix, ‘Parasite,’ the movies of 1999, the Sixties, and more https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/...-limey-921006/ Also, anyone in NYC, they are having a screening and Q&A on Thursday at Lincoln Center. https://www.lincolncenter.org/show/s...ven-soderbergh |

4K resolution is exactly 3840 x 2160 pixels, whilst 1080P consists of 1920 x 1080 pixels. You would not be capable of getting the maximum resolution of the movie. As Blu said, the free Prime video version is the old HD master and Prime has a disclaimer saying the free version is being dropped on December 31st. |
Re: Steven Soderbergh's The Limey - 4K remaster
But then why also have option for $7.99 version with new remaster poster in non-UHD since that version is $12.99? Is the $7.99 one at least better looking when streaming in 1080p, which free version already does anyway? There would be no difference in quality in regular HD with the different streams, right?
Didn't notice that ending disclaimer till now... |
Re: Steven Soderbergh's The Limey - 4K remaster
Oh my bad....the price for the 4K version is actually $11.99
Rental is $6.99 When you click on it, the price is actually different. 4K version to buy: https://www.amazon.com/Limey-4K-UHD-Terence-Stamp/dp/B082LPTJ51/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=the+limey&qid=1577063577&sr=8-3 HD Version to buy: The HD version is a $2.99 rental and $6.99 to buy and here's the free with Prime version that's being dropped in 9 days Sorry I know your super confused about which one is more worth your money, but my suggestion would be to not pay for something that streams in 4K when you don't have the tech to do it. |
Re: Steven Soderbergh's The Limey - 4K remaster
But the free version now that can be bought in just HD, is same quality as the free version till end of month, correct?
