Re: Do you still blind buy movies? (Physical media and digital)

On the rare occasion I buy a movie, I no longer do blind buys - regardless of the price.

I rarely buy movies because I no longer want to amass a collection - especially movies that I'll only watch once... so it wouldn't make sense to blind buy them.

I see many here say that they never rent and just "buy it" even if they've never seen it.

So do you or not?
My answer is YES but my vote went to NO (damn Russian hackers!)
It literally changed before my eyes.

Yes, if it looks good....if I like the cast and/or director...I will blind buy.

I'm honestly surprised that no one said yes to blind buys for "digital only" I see so many in streaming forum buy shit loads of sale titles from Vudu, FandangoNow and such.

Re: Do you still blind buy movies? (Physical media and digital)

I'll chime in here- in my kind of unique situation (having more movies than I physically have room for), I've simply had to stop blind-buying any B-titles even for a dollar because the space they take up will now cost me more than the value of the movie. This will especially apply to regular DVDs, as their cases take up more space and the quality is lacking anyways.

While I simply don't "trust" digital for permanent ownership, I'll blind buy something at $5 or less (as this is the average price for a 1-day rental, only this time they don't expire) if it's something I REALLY want to see and the Blu-Ray or 4K discs are priced significantly higher. I now have a decent-sized backlog of those that I haven't watched; time will tell if I can get to them before they ever become inaccessible. If I end up really liking any of these movies, I will still buy the Blu-Ray or 4K disc if available, but regular DVDs simply aren't worth my time or space anymore.

Nope. Most theatrical movies I see, and if I did not see it then I'll just rent it when it hits VOD. Same with any straight to video movie, I just wait to rent it.

Another reason why I still buy some disks is because streaming has hiccups at times, which can be very frustrating (to say the least).
Anyone else the same?

I definitely fall into this category.

The few I get are after reading reviews are from Big Lots! & Dollar Tree.

I voted no and was going to say never anymore...then I realized about 3 weeks ago I blind bout San Andreas for $5.00 so me and the gal could watch it because she love the "Rock".

Turned out not to be that bad.

Yes, but not nearly as many as I used to. I have such a large collection that I'm slowly selling things off. Now I'll wait a bit for the 4K to go on sale or will still buy a limited number of new releases.

Re: Do you still blind buy movies? (Physical media and digital)

I should say that for certain franchises I’ll buy blind because I know it will mostly fit in wth the rest. Like be picking up Dark Phoenix on Tuesday because I buy all the X-men movies and I’ll be getting Toy Story 4 of course.

Re: Do you still blind buy movies? (Physical media and digital)

I still blind buy movies but I won't pay full price for something I don't even know that I'll like. If I'm at a flea market and they only want 50 cents or a dollar or two (depending on what it is), and it looks like it might be interesting, I'll pick it up. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I can usually get rid of anything I don't like at The Exchange.

Yeah, that's part of the fun. Who just buys movies they have already seen? How boring.

Re: Do you still blind buy movies? (Physical media and digital)

I know ive said it before but ill say it again

i used to blind buy some of the newer horror movies the past couple of years from The Witch, Hereditary, Krampus and Under the Bed for DVD. the movies themselves for the story they turned out alright anyway.

I never saw Avengers Infinity War before and a few months ago I blind bought it or blu ray. One of my last Marvel movies to blind buy for blu ray/dvd. Endgame i still need to go blind buy.

as for regular movies such as horror or comedy they are the better blind buys in my opinion.

It Chapter 2 ill probably blind buy later this year whenever it comes out for DVD since I have It Chapter 1 for 2 disc DVD
