The House of Hitchcock Collection -- 10/1/19

This is a pretty amazing collection. I may consider this and it's close to my birthday.

Re: The House of Hitchcock Collection -- 10/1/19

Off the top of my head, I think the movies were all released previously in another box set so the only new thing on this Special Edition set are the TV episodes and new extras. I didn't see any mention that the movies are new remastered.

I already have the previous set so it will be a skip for me as I'm not too crazy on the packaging and don't want to spend more for the extras.

I have the big ass UK Collection from years ago, so I'm good. Very nice looking set though.

Meh. I have the UK set that I underpaid for. This is a bullshit cash grab.

*I see they're including his television episodes, but I'm not rebuying the set just for those.

Seems like just a repackage with extra collectables. I have the previous blu box set with all these. And I have the TV episodes from older DVD box sets.

I have all of those films on DVD but I'm admittedly tempted to get them on blu-ray.

This one? I have this one...no need to get the above set. Maybe the TV discs will go on sale separately in the future. My set didn't have North By Northwest, but I just bought it separately.

Yep, that’s the one. And yes, I just bought North by Northwest separately. Still very happy with the set, and it’s gotten plenty of use over the years.

This group of films has been repackaged so many times that the Evil Dead had to salute this set.

Damn, this set is $89.93 on Amazon. Now I wonder if any sales will bring it down into the $50’s at some point.

I have most of the Hitchcock Presents television series on DVD, I would be curious how improved the blu-ray remaster would be, but 10 episodes is a very small fraction of the total episodes he put out

He only directed 17 episodes though. I assume what's included is part of those. If you want the show in full, they sell the seasons separately. I have all 17 episodes he directed via old DVD boxset bonus discs.

Outside of the episodes on the box set bonus discs that Dex mentions above, the US has only gotten seasons 1 - 6 of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, with Season Six being a MOD set (although a few pressed sets escaped into the wild somehow). Season 7 has been MIA for years, along with all three seasons of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. As far as I can tell, Alfred Hitchcock only ever directed one of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour's episodes, so it appears that the TV episodes in this new collection weren't all directed by him. I'd certainly be happy if Universal would finish out the Hitchcock TV stuff, but if they've no plans to do so, then I wish that Shout Factory would pick up the slack.

I have this set. I also already had the separate releases from WB and Paramount.

It was way cheaper than the U.S. set and didn't have all that excess stuff I don't need.

This is the set that I have - I recall the controversy concerning the transfers of some of the later films - there would have to be an upgrade before I pulled the trigger.
