Well Sony used to do it all the time and Best Buy had a few exclusives, but I think Pacific Rim Uprising was the last one.

Well, it's not technically out yet, right (BB usually ships these things early and so people who order online like me got them this weekend, but I think official rollout is Tuesday like all media?)

Steelbook is sold out on BB.com now. I have mine ordered for pickup, but I was considering cancelling it and going with the regular 4k/3D package as I like the art a lot more.
The hand is a nice, low key image. But I would have preferred if it were used as the back cover image, with something like the image that's on the spine on the Target release above, or the CD cover, used for the front.

I saw this in the theatre and I see it's coming out tomorrow. I'd like to get it, especially the 4K version. I think this is a movie that's worth getting the 4K version. But $30 is just too expensive. I think I'm going to wait on this.
Of course I can probably go the digital route and save about $10-15, but I think this is something I'd like to have a physical copy of.

Got mine early this weekend from Best Buy- the 3D is spectacular and not gimmicky, though there are many moments I saw as wasted opportunities to really show it off (things coming out of the screen but in ways that would still have carried the story and not been obvious gimmicks.) After it shipped I got notice that I'll be reviewing it here as well, but not sure which version I'll be getting. If it's the same edition then I'll also watch the 4K and compare that with the 3D, if it turns out to be the regular Blu-Ray then I'll just focus on that. In a nutshell it's very nice-looking but mainly feels like a setup for sequels- I hoped that more was going to happen before it ended, even though it already ran a bit long.

I've had the UHD version for the last 2 weeks. I'm just going to wait until it's a few dollars and buy it (the disc) used via Redbox.

My store had zero copies at store opening. I picked up mine. It's pretty.

There appears to be a lot of interest/demand for this title.
If true, it may be awhile before major discounting...

Broke down and bought the 4k/3D.
Good popcorn film and instantly forgettable.
The HDR 10 is subdued...color palette is not eye-poppingly bright (lots of grays and blues).
Lots of fast action scenes with perfect motion control...nothing blurring in the slightest.
Sound is great.
Setup for a sequel.

Not bound for the Criterion Collection at some point? I picked up my steelbook the other day but haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Uh, no.
Alita is NOT a bad movie...just a little unsatisfying.
I think it doesn't stick as well as it could because the action is so frenetic it doesn't allow viewers time to catch their breath.
To be fair, some will actually like that kind of pace, while others won't.
For me, I wanted to learn MORE about this fascinating Alita-verse.
Hopefully, a sequel will be made that can fill some of the gaps.

You can subscribe for the Comixology Unlimited tier and it's only $5.99 per month. They have all the Alita collected volumes, which are 200+ pages each. On that alone, you get your money's worth.

The original series has an ending, those are the regular Alita volumes listed. However, the creator said that he was forced into that ending, so a few years later he went back to it and created Last Order, which is a continuation of the series that ignores part of the original ending. It also becomes like a super over the top battle manga. I think only the first omnibus is included in Comixology Unlimited, though I may be wrong. Last Order ended and a third series, Mars Chronicle, began, which is ongoing.
The movie basically adapts volumes 1-4 of the original series.
