Depends on which warehouses they're being shipped to from the vendor.

Any idea if this is going to be available in store at Best Buy on the release date?

Not sure. I do know that Best Buy online has already shipped out copies to "Elite" members of their club. I know someone that got it on Friday. I guess BB does this with those selected members?

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

It’s a Best Buy thing in general. I’m no longer Elite, but my movie preorders frequently arrive the Friday or Monday before release (steelbooks in particular, but occasionally a standard release, Shazam being a recent example).

Here's an actual review and not an "unboxing" review.

Positive review.

Interested in seeing what the grain looks like.
Watched the first 2 Men in Black 4Ks this weekend.
Grain is not pleasant.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

I went ahead and ordered this tonight. It's been many years since I've seen it. I got the special edition dossier set that came out 13 years ago

At the time, I thought that was the most complete set.

I think I currently have the Lionsgate version that has Heart of Darkness. It's been a long time since I watched it because it came out 9 years ago.

But, I am sold on the 4K Final cut.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

I've read a few posts on that other site in which folks are saying that the sound cuts out at about the 1hr 59min on the BD Final Cut disc. It cuts out and never returns at that mark. I don't know if it's a widely reported issue or what the hell. A lot of people are obviously going to the 4k disc and not worrying about the BD, which will suck for those who are not 4k yet.

Mine shipped from Amazon. Should arrive tomorrow. Originally it said September 9th for some odd reason.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

I decided I had to have this today so I did in store pick up at the closest Best Buy which is an hour away. The cover art isn't nearly as atrocious in hand as the online pics make it it out to be. I also picked up Unforgiven on UHD so I am going to double feature them later tonight.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

I ordered from Amazon back in May. My delivery says today, but that's clearly not happening. They gave me $15 credit for the issue.

I cancelled my amazon order that I ordered the very second it went live a few days ago when I received a Sep 9 delivery date.

No big deal to me. I saw the new cut at Tribeca. I can wait.

I ordered mine very late -- just last week -- and it was originally scheduled for 9/5 but is actually coming tomorrow. Glad to see that Amazon was able to restock faster than anticipated.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

It's a pretty amazing set. I picked it up at BB yesterday. I haven't watched everything, but what I've seen looks stunning. The only gripe I have is a small one and is only a cosmetic complaint, but they built the case like the inside of a box set, but never put a box around it. It just folds out as is. Sort of bizarre.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

So I just popped in my 2 disc Lionsgate BD from 2010 and noticed that it does not have Heart of Darkness. Well now that makes the upgrade to the new 4K more worthwhile along with the new final cut.

This is the version that I own

Hearts of Darkness was only included in the 3-disc Full Disclosure Edition at that time.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

Yeah, this is the blu-ray that has Hearts of Darkness:

It's the one I have. I'll probably consider picking up the 4K edition at some point.

Re: Apocalypse Now - remastered in 4K - "The Final Cut"

Just watched the first hour of the "Final Cut" in 4K...amazing clarity with out scrubbing the film grain out.

Did not know Harrison Ford played a charter named "G Lucas"...Cool that Lucas friend Francis Coppola gave him a nice nod in the move.

Going to finish watch the whole movie on Friday night with my son.

Well, the film did start shooting in 1976, so that was probably around the same time the first SW film also shot. Lucas had even agreed to finish the film should Coppola have died or been able to not finish the film in its entirety. It was a big ass mess. Watch Hearts of Darkness after AN.
