The painstaking wait for Suspiria panned out most excellently. For Dawn of the Dead, a movie I love even more, I can play through the pain and keep waiting, if the result is anywhere near as exquisite.

The Second Sight release will eclipse the other UHD releases so far. It'll be worth waiting a couple more months (or however long it winds up taking).

I've heard that the US is entering into the same international postal standards that UK and Euros have which means that intl. postage rates are going to explode for US importers starting this summer.
Is this correct? Has anyone else got the 411 on this?

I want SS to take their time and do the proper job. I'd also hope they squeak in before importing becomes a more ridiculously expensive option than it has been.

Canada apparently fell under these guidelines just last year, so I can imagine the U.S. is on the horizon. Shipping costs from Europe to Canada effectively doubled and/or tripled overnight (and then some, depending on what you order). I've generally always shipped to my U.S. addresses anyway, but it sucked losing an 'domestic' option and I knew if was only a matter of time before importing to the U.S. would get hit. Would this likewise affect the "Amazon Global" listings? Those are sometimes handy for getting Euro releases for a bit less than actually ordering from the Euro sites, but if the shipping on those U.S. listings also spikes, we might be outta luck.

The odds of me getting this set are slim to none, but I can't help but keep up with all the drama of the project. I do have the old DVD box set I found for a song years ago, but I'm just not that big of a fan and the Region B blus would be useless to me.

But I'm glad stuff like this is still keeping the hobby going.

UK only but it means a US release from someone else is likely only 12-24 months away.

I really hope this is the last time I have to buy Dawn of the Dead. One of the few movies I've owned on every format since VHS.

Amazon UK, so folks better prep their region-free players and import price-point.

Or pick up the Ultra HD release, since UHD BDs don't have region coding. (Although I'm not sure if there'll be any BDs with extras that might be region B.)

They say limited edition, and it's a big case, so I wonder if it's gonna be some kind of version with swag, with a standard version coming later. Or is it truly limited and Second Sight only has so many copies they can sell.

Update:

DAWN OF THE DEAD update! We're afraid the pre-order date will now be delayed. Latest restrictions will affect production and while we hope the release date won’t change we want to be sure before taking pre-orders. The situation is ever changing so we will update when we can but most importantly Stay Safe.

Yeah, post apocalyptic movies about the fall of civilization can wait a little while ....

Glorious.

They said the package will weigh just over a kilo (2.2 pounds).

Love it.

Hopefully I'll be able to finally upgrade my TV to a 4K set in the next month or so.
