I already own both a TV and player now, but yeah when I knew I was going to move to 4K I started buying 4K media a bit earlier. The combo packs helped quite a bit.

I've cut my physical purchases back to the point that spending a few extra dollars on the 4K combo paks is worth it. I'll upgrade the TV/player one of these days! lol

Regardless, the fact is many of the early releases were extremely underwhelming (TFE, HOFD), to the point of being almost indistinguishable from the DVD.
For example, Fox pulled Robocop immediately after release because it was so horrible.
That's an important difference when we're talking 6x the resolution between what you first said, and what Adam said.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Even Upconversion of a shitty source to 1080p can't hide that.

Exactly why I have special prescription glasses just for use in my HT.

Same here.

Answering the poll question: no. I don't like being nudged up. BD is fine with me, I don't expect to upgrade past my 46" HD TV anytime soon, and my wants list (particularly for <= 2008 DVD's) is still too long.
