If I only visited the Walmarts closest to me, I would never come across their special media deals.
They can put them out anytime. Example: Remember the Fox slipcovers with Deadpool on every title? My closest WM put them out almost a year after they showed up nationwide. The media dept is not a priority for WM. Mine has a huge section for movies but still has promotions from Halloween on display.

Very cool. Unfortunately, both of my nearest Wal-Marts are Anti-Mill Creek. One of them didn't have a problem with those Fox Deadpool covers at least.

It’s weird seeing “VHS” covers for movies like John Wick and Creed that came out after the format was abandoned.

I want that Highlander cover.

I was up Target this week and noticed they had a few blu-rays in full size VHS clamshells. Universal releases If I remember correctly.

My copy has shipped. Over at bluray.com a member said the PQ was lacking, especially in scenes that take place in the dark, such as the opening which is particularly bad. It sounds like the daylight scenes are okay. I suspect that we will still be in awe of Tanya Roberts body in the well lit scenes, with a noticeable uptick in visual clarity compared to the old dvd, but even for a bargain priced $8.99 title it would have been nice if slightly more effort went into producing this disc.

So, I watched the first 30 minutes to determine if things are as bad as some folks claimed and I have to say that for the most part it looks pretty good for a 34 year old film. I am watching using a Samsung 4K blu ray player on a sub $800.00 LG 55” 4K TV with HDR so I am sure higher end TVs will cause certain visual flaws to stick out more compared to my set-up but again, not bad for a $9.00 blu ray of a film from the mid-eighties. I forgot how old this film was because I was in Junior High when this hit theaters.

I did notice the white speckles all over the screen during the nighttime opening scene but when it transitions to daylight you quickly forget about the visual flaws that you literally just witnessed moments earlier.

Yeah, I finally got around to seeing those in person the other day. Wow, those are a hard pass for me. Too much like the real thing. The size and heft is unwieldy to sit on a shelf of Blu-Rays. That's why these Retro-Covers from Mill Creek, Lionsgate, Fox, Sony, were just fantastic. Evoking that glorious period of VHS, while still clearly being a Blu-Ray in VHS clothing.
