Safe to assume they're including the special features from the sequels and not just the first film?

I hope 2 is available separately. I already spent $3 on the Predators blu ray, so no real need to give that turd any more $$.

I'd imagine that's the case, but there's strangely very little information for a release less than a week away. Fox's press release is undescriptive on that front, there haven't been any pictures of the back of the packaging, no review copies have been sent out yet...

That is the one thing stopping me from picking it up now (I re-watch Predator 2 at least once every 12-18 months...such an under-rated sequel), this nagging feeling that what with it being August already (dang, time flies) a bit more patience and some of the non-limited edition 4Ks I would not mind picking up will be much cheaper a few months from now.

On the other hand, burned or not by the 1966 Batman Complete series set or not, I might need to bite the bullet on The Complete Batman The Animated Series because for some reason I think that set might be the real deal when it comes to not going down in price all that much when it gets closer to its release date.

If by some miracle the Predator set gets closer to $30 in the fairly near future I might sacrifice the potential $10 more in savings if I wait to enjoy Predator 1 and 2 in true high def. I never picked up the abomination that are the blus of P 1 & 2 and when I see P2 on cable I know I am basically watching an upconverted DVD when it come to PQ, a really good upconvert on my 4K tv but still.

...and/or the inevitable four film collection once Shane Black's sequel hits home video.

yeah I already made that mistake with Jurassic Park. I'm holding off for Predator 4's home video release. Hopefully they come out with a 4 film set. Then again if the film is successful they'll be lining up part 5 in no time. So you can't really win with these definitive sets.

I read a few comments online and seen a video in which Predator looks astounding.

Is the transfer used for Predator on regular BD still the scrubbed one or have they done a new one that looks like the movie should?

I don't know if the blu-ray is a remastered version.

If you want the version on how the movie should look it's not the 1080P version, remastered or not. It's the UHD 4K with HDR you want which is the best looking Predator there is on home video right now.

Reports coming out of the "other forum" say the included blu-ray is the same disc as the ultimate hunter edition. In other words, it's garbage.

Is anyone surprised that the blu ray is the same, I am not. What has me doing a happy dance is the news that the 4K version (the only one to give a fig about) is awesome sauce.

Unless someone without 4K is buying 4K titles to futureproof their collection and is stuck only being able to see the blu now, I am relieved that the 4K transfer is a beauty but get that it sucks to have a title in your collection that you can only enjoy when you decide to make the 4K plunge.

Re: Predator - 3 Movie Collection 4K UHD - 8/7/18

I saw Target was selling this for like $41 and change. But, who knows if they will carry this in store. They don't seem to carry many if any catalog titles.

I'm interested, but I would like to see the packaging and see what's included. But, I would be interested in 4K upgrades for the Predator movies. I never upgraded to Blu-Ray, so I still the old FOX 2-disc SE DVDs of the 1st and 2nd part. I think I do have the 3rd part on Blu.

That's what I'm wondering. If the Blu-ray already out there is from a 4K master then did they use it for the 4K disc, or is this a new 4K master.

If they did do a new 4K master, does it correct all DNR scrubbing from the previous master, and is the regular blu correct now too.

Obviously the regular blu is the same master.

It's not a given that a UHD BD and the BD that comes with it will be sourced from the same master.

Look at Mission: Impossible, for example. Still includes the same old BD from 2007 (!).

FWIW, I haven't heard if a new master was used.

Normally, if a new master was used, it would "correct" the DNR scrubbing.
In theory, a new blu release would use the new master....in theory.

THAT'S frickin' ridiculous....

We need to put pressure on the studios (just as we did when BD launched) to stop short-changing early adoptees of the new format with subpar releases.
If you recall, it ultimately worked.

Adam, you and your fellow reviewers, have a big voice in the industry...care to play?
What can I do to help (feel free to PM me if you wish)?

If the 4K disc blows out the blu-ray why the need for blu-ray disc in the packaging? You can't have it both ways boys and girls.

Us 4K owners only want 4K. You want blu-ray? Buy it separate. Do away with digital codes as well unless they 4K.

Well, two things:

1) You can have it both ways. Warner has proven it. Unforgiven and The Matrix both have remastered Blu-ray discs based on the new masters.

2) The choice isn't necessarily there. Again using those Warner releases as examples, those remastered BDs aren't available on their own. The only way to get them is by buying the UHD releases.

Bill Hunt review of Predator 4K UHD

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/item/predator-uhd

Only extra on the 4K UHD is the commentary. He gave the transfer an A-

The BD that’s included is from 2010.

No review yet of the other 2 movies.

Ha! That’s fucked up, but expected considering it’s Fox. At least we finally get an A rated transfer on a film that’s gone through so many subpar releases and remasters in the past. A little odd no Atmos, but I wouldn’t expect anything improved on like that from Fox.

I have said the same thing in the past.
I think part of it is the studios don't want to upconvert the Extras to 4K...preferring the easy way out of just throwing them on a BD.

After reading his review closely, I think he is being very generous with an "A-"
Oh well, my copy arrives tomorrow.
