Surprised they did a 4K restoration for something shot on 16mm. Seems like overkill.
Think I'll stick with my DVDs - they look as good as the show needs to look.

Hulu. But it's not the new 4K remaster. That's supposed to come later this year.

Fucking shit ass packaging. Why are studios so adverse to standard Viva Elite cases!? The discs better not have 1 goddamn mark on them this time.

I think it looks great! Looks like the Deadwood set, which kept the discs perfectly safe, and was a handsome book/collection to boot.

There would also be some cropping at the top and bottom. As you, said, though, they insist that they shot it with 16:9 in mind, so I'm not overly concerned.

They don't crop for 16:9 unless they shoot in fucking Super35.

I'm not sure I believe that story. During its original run, Shawn Ryan resisted letting the show be broadcast in HD because he wanted to maintain the "gritty," low-res aesthetic. He had the opportunity to switch to 16:9 HD but refused it even as most of FX's other programming made the transition.
