Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos. All extras carried over. Only UHD BDs -- no combo pack this time around. Best Buy's pre-order price is $52.99 at the moment.

With only one season left, you might as well wait for a complete series.

I’d love a UHD set of this. I can add it into the steelbooks I already have.

Best Buy's price is down to $46.99. Which actually isn't too bad for this. Given its the double whammy of a UHD and an HBO show.

I stopped buying the blu-ray sets after 3 seasons, I can see myself getting UHD versions of the whole series.

I wonder if the people that just upgraded multiple seasons for the Atmos mixes will do so again for 4K.

I'm good with my original BD's. I've dropped enough on this series as it is given the cost of each season on release week.

I never upgraded, but started with the Atmos steelbooks. So I’m good with jumping to UHD for this series. Might be one of the very few I’d do this with. Good move to release these as UHD only. Glad Westworld started off with UHD.

That sounds like good advice.
Maybe there will be a Christmas release of the whole series in 2019.

HBO definitely likes to do complete series sets. A GoT one seems like a given.

4K version sounds disappointing

...and after spending 2 years on the final season, they better have the rest ready to release a complete set as soon as it finishes airing.

I'd like to know what is planned when the entire series is packaged together. As of now the individual series are singles, boxed together as a 'set'. Hopefully they will put together an impressive package like The Sopranos was done.

No matter what they do, it will be a block buster sales around Christmas time 2019.

It's exactly how it should be, and there better be a simple 8 season set boxed together the same way. It's the only way to get them in standard Viva Elite cases. I can't stand goofy packaging that doesn't hold discs well or makes it harder to get to them. Viva Elite is simple and convenient.

I imagine we'll get some sort of big intricate gift set for the Christmas season and then somewhere down the road we'll probably get a re-release in a more shelf-friendly packaging.

Yeah, The Sopranos is a PITA to handle, but since I only watch it once ever 10 years, it is okay. Beats the hell out of just strapping together the individual series in a single box.

An Ultra HD Blu-ray release of season 8 has started to pop up on Deep Discount and that whole family of sites:

No release date yet. I'm betting we'll see a full series set on UHD BD before the holidays, though no listing along those lines has appeared yet.

Steelbook? Ugh. Why did that shirt become so much bigger than Metalpak? Metalpak cases actually hold the discs good, like old Paramount/Warner DVD cases used to before they switched to cheap eco shirt.

Extras:
  • Game of Thrones: The Last Watch: A documentary featured on DVD in two parts by filmmaker Jeanie Finlay chronicling the making of the final season.
  • When Winter Falls: Exclusive 30-minute featurette with showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with major stars and behind-the-scenes players, breaking down all that went into the colossal filming of the “Battle of Winterfell” in Season 8, Episode 3.
  • Duty is the Death of Love: A compelling look at how the team behind Game of Thrones and its major stars, including Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke, brought the show to its conclusion in the series finale, “The Iron Throne.”
  • Audio Commentaries: 10 Audio Commentaries with cast and crew, including the show’s creators, Benioff and Weiss, on the final season.
  • Deleted and Extended Scenes: 5 never-before-seen deleted or extended scenes from season 8.
  • Histories and Lore: New animated pieces giving the history and background of notable season 8 locations and storylines
Uh, why is The Last Watch on DVD?!

Yeah that makes no sense The Last Watch being on DVD. It was filmed in HD for crying out loud.

If I can get the final season at a reasonable price, I'll get the 4K UHD version and call it a day.

I liked it, even though the opinions of it are quite divisive, especially from the active fans of it in the TV forum.

Never fails, even HBO jacks this up. Oh well, I have all of the previous seasons in the steelbooks, so I’ll wrap up with this one. But dammit, what a stupid move putting that doc on DVD.

Buying the set on HBO gives you a VUDU digital code for Season 8 instantly. That includes The Last Watch Doc in HD

Just got Season 8 blu ray and there is no DVD in the 3 disc set. Is it me or did they come to their senses and put The Last Watch doc on the last disc blu ray?
