The keys on Reloaded genuinely made me laugh out loud.

I can't decide which Matrix cover is more terrible. The Steelbook spoon or the first grade drawn rabbit on the regular release.
This is embarrassing.

I have no interest in the Steelbooks.
These are going to be expensive though. Minimum $60 for all 3 movies if they're on sale.
I'd like to hold out and have them hopefully go on sale during the Holidays. I just don't want to drop that kind of money for 1 good movie and 2 mediocre sequels.

Me too...it took me a second to make the connection, but it's a nice touch.
Stupid question: why do the covers influence your desire to view these films at home in 4K?

I'm a big fan of the Matrix movies especially the first one which is a classic, one of my all time favs but I cannot let these studios get away with the crap they do. These studios out there need to do a better job on these 4K releases so until then they can't have my support. I'm not losing much. I'm not losing any sleep. I could live without the 4K. There will always be 8K anyways.

I have several Warner HD-DVDs that were fine when I first played them, but now either freeze up or won't even load at all- and I tried them on multiple players. Last time I watched The Matrix it froze up in the middle on one player but played all the way through on another.
Yep, I can imagine the sequels only being available on 4K as a 3-pack, so you'll have to buy the first one again if you buy this one.

Yep, I gave up on that format- was trying to collect every title and had almost all of them, then had many stop playing. I bought replacements and then a lot of THOSE went bad later, and discs that were fine when first acquired no longer play or freeze up during the movie. I have 5 HD-DVD players too so no chance of this being a player problem. The Matrix box was a cool set too, I never even got to check out the In-Movie Experiences on them. Hopefully the 4K box will have the same extras, will buy that when it comes out.

The trilogy set is on sale for $45. Worth the upgrade from the Blu-rays?

Judging from the reviews I've read it appears it blows out the blu-rays.
I been contemplating in picking this up as well. I'm just tired of triple dipping.
Will The Matrix shine even more on 8K? or 12K? Shit this has got to end.

Good price; I paid $60.
I have only looked at the first movie.
After a cursory view, I can say the detail is definitely up.
Unfortunately, there is some crushing of blacks.
Haven't fiddled with my controls yet to see if I can mitigate it (Sony 940c).

Newer to 4k, so forgive me for asking a question that's probably already been answered....
The Matrix Trilogy 4k steelbook has just the 3 UHD discs; I already have the old Blu-ray set, but I know the regular 4K set has the remastered blu-rays. Are the extras the same as the old set? I don't really care about steelbooks per se, so am I better off buying the more complete set?

You mean the new set compared to the old Ultimate Matrix? I think some things are missing, most notably Animatrix but also stuff like The Matrix Experience.
Also, I didn't realize that the trilogy steelbook lacks not only the Blu-rays but also the supplemental disks.
Best Buy's deal of the day has the trilogy for 30 and the individual steelbooks for 13. Not sure if it's worth the extra 9 bucks for the supplemental stuff plus the Blu-rays if I already have the old set. Both individual steelbooks and trilogy look kind of terrible, though.
