Frozen 3D
Any new 3D

4K UHD (for classic animation)

Frozen 3D was released in the UK. It will never be released in North America. Just buy the UK version (it plays in North America).

No more 3D releases are coming because manufacturers stopped making 3D TVs, and are instead making 4K TVs (hence the 4K releases).

Now the only classic title we truly need in 4K, is Fantasia 2000, because it was produced in IMAX 70mm. Most of the 35mm classic features are just fine (or even overkill) in 1080p.

You can buy the Peter Pan steelbook at Bestbuy.com after last week where it was only available for store pickup.

TV manufacturers don't control 3D releases. Studios are still making and releasing 3D, which is why they're still releasing 3D discs throughout the rest of the world. But it doesn't help they still charge a premium on them here in the US.

I do agree we don't really need all Disney classics released in 4K. I can't see them looking significantly better than what's already been released on blu.

That's if you can find a U.S. 3D release... and, when you can, they are often less expensive getting it from overseas. And that's with shipping and a currency exchange rate not in our favor. Specifically referencing AmazonUK in this instance.

Not to mention that some of those TV manufacturers (who no longer make 3D TVs) do make 3D 4K players. What's with that?

I'm not into 4K, but I don't buy that. It's one of those "in the eye of the beholder" things.

Wreck-It Ralph is getting a 4K release on 11/6, to coincide with the sequel release in theaters. There is also a Best Buy steelbook for it.

Also, rumor is that Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 will be the fall Signature Collection title. As that is usually released in Oct./Nov., hopefully it will be announced very soon.

There's also a Celebrating Mickey Blu-ray release on 10/23 for Mickey's 90th birthday that includes 13 theatrical shorts, many of which are first-time available in HD on home video:

Steamboat Willie (1928)
The Band Concert (1935)
Mickey's Rival (1936)
Thru the Mirror (1936)
Boat Builders (1938)
Brave Little Tailor (1938)
Mickey's Trailer (1938)
Tugboat Mickey (1940)
The Little Whirlwind (1941)
Mickey's Birthday Party (1942)
Pluto's Party (1952)
The Simple Things (1953)
Get A Horse (2013)

I feel like Ralph won't be worth the upgrade.

The Mickey release looks decent, I might get that if it can be had for under $20.

Fantasia/2000 still gets regular play at the house, so that’ll be a day 1 purchase if it does come out. I’ll buy Ralph if the upgrade is worth it, but Disney’s UHD record has been shoddy at best. And I’ll pick up that Mickey disc.

I'll consider the Fantasia re-release if has worthy new extras and includes the stuff from the DVD Anthology that the first Blu-ray release left off.

Knowing Disney, some original Fantasia supplements will be missing. They like propping up the value of obsolete versions for some reason.

Also, this is not classic animation related, but might be of interest to people here.

There's a Pixar Short Films Collection Vol. 3 announced for Nov. 13. It has 13 shorts, including:

Partysaurus Rex
The Legend of Mordu
The Blue Umbrella
Tales From Radiator Springs
Party Central
Lava
Sanjay's Super Team
Riley's First Date?
Piper
Lou
Bao

Where are you seeing the info for this? Currently there is nothing listed at Best Buy

Color me completely surprised at that Mickey short listing, I would have thought it would have been more loaded with newer content

I was hoping for a lot more of the Mickey shorts. Only 13 doesn't seem worth the price.

Especially if they use the transfers that were already done for the long out of print treasures collections. Pure cash grab if there are multiple releases similarly short on content. As expensive as they were, at least those Treasures releases were pretty packed.

Disney always complained about poor sales for those Treasures DVDs. We likely won't get anymore unless this release sells a lot of units.

it's funny they complained about sales, meanwhile most of the series commands a high secondary market price

In many cases because they quickly sold out. Some of the last, lesser known stuff, didn't sell as quickly. But the animated short and Disneyland sets went fast.

Probably because 1/2 of them were dented in worse than a car after an accident. Packaging was not exactly well thought out for a limited collectible.

The good stuff sold faster than I could get my hands on it. I missed out on a lot with no hope of ever getting another chance to purchase them.

Do they still fetch the insane prices they used to given most people are done with buying/collecting DVDs?

How do you complain about the sales of something that sells out?
