Looks like the set will be $10 come BF. Still $5 too expensive for me.

Exactly what I said from the beginning.

The very hard to find Stranger Things S1 will be $10 on BF at Target

Hope you guys can return before that. I think Target shrunk their return window.

Had a feeling that might be the case after seeing the stock not budging much over the past few weeks. That's too bad. Whatever Target hoped for this didn't pan out. Looks like it's a case of poor marketing and announcement structures; hardly anybody outside of the physical-media community knew this release was a thing until I talked with them about it, and the lack of extras probably didn't help word of mouth.

This was always destined for Black Friday. My Target has a whole "setup" of Stranger Things merchandise so I'm sure these $10 sets will fly off the shelves come BF.

Probably so.

A lot of thought went into the design of the packaging, something you don't see that often anymore, and it's really well-made. $10 for a collectible set like that is pretty absurd. I doubt they went in thinking they'd be unloading these at such a sharp discount over Black Friday.

If I cared about physical media I'd be all over it. Like I said, a few years ago it would be an instant purchase. Now? My physical media is in the garage in boxes.

The BF ads are created weeks in advance. This was likely always the intended scenario. Lack of initial advertising didn't help sales. That's my opinion at least.

$10 is a steal. Despite the lack of extras (and the crappy forced spoiler trailer) the PQ is great and I just love the packaging. No regrets even at $25.

My receipt says return by 11/16, bought on release day. If I'm near a Target before then I may do a re-buy, return, then another re-buy and return on BF. I'll definitely be buying a couple more for holiday gifts.

$10 isn’t worth fighting the crowds on Black Friday, so I don’t mind that I paid full price.

It'll be online at that price and free shipping if you have a Red Card.

I hope your right 'cause the ad in the BD bargain section said it was in store only.

Agreed, Netflix and Target designed a very attractive, unique package for Stranger Things. Dropping to $10 already, even on Black Friday, screams underwhelming sales.

I think it's safe to say that the BF ad was pretty much prepped by the time the show came out. I think they did it on purpose because people are right outside their 30 day return policy by the time it goes on sale (and it will probably have a different SKU in stores as well, so you won't be able to re-buy and return).

where is everybody seeing this for sale on $10 on BF? I have scoured Target's BF ad and can't find it listed anywhere. Is it there and I am just not seeing it?

I don't remember them ever changing the SKU, just that there's a different SKU for their exclusives (which may or may not be included at the sale price - hoping for the Spider-Man Homecoming exclusive as there were still a few sitting around at my closest store). I could be wrong though.

There's really no reason to worry about beating the crowds at the store if you go later in the evening once the rush dies down. In the last 5-6 years I can only remember one item not being available when going around 10pm. It was last year, and I can't remember what it was, but I found it at the next store I went to, I was hitting several Walmarts.

Nearly all the deals are online and well before the store opens on Thursday. If my wife isn't sick we will probably go out after the initial madness...but most likely we will just stay home and pick up the very few things that we need this year for our son.

Sales on this have been particularly impressive imo, considering that it's a retailer exclusive that's made the Top Ten Blu-ray Sellers list two weeks in a row.

Each Target got in hundreds of copies initially, and so just restock from the backrooms. So it may not appear that they've sold that many, but obviously it's doing pretty well.

You're doing a public service? How kind of you. Sell them for $25 then.
