Exactly. I'll be there to buy this if real. But I'm not heading to the store until there is something more substantial than one possible troll.

If this is real it's too bad that an actual VHS of some sort couldn't have been included. Even if it was just like the first episode or some extra content it would have been cool. Probably too cost prohibitive for a retail exclusive though.

24.99 is a pretty good price. Not amazing but good enough for something like this.

After testing out Netflix's interface on my LG TV, I'd rather watch the rest of Stranger Things on a VHS tape!

TV apps usually suck. Get a Roku or something.

Absolutely. Thrilled it's genuine, and pretty much a steal at $25.

Awesome. Glad it's real. Now it's just a matter of actually getting one. Hopefully there is enough to go around beyond the scalpers that will show up to snatch them all up for resale.

I thought it was in-store only but I may be wrong. I'm honestly kind of tired of running to Best buy/Target every Tuesday after work and seeing everything I want sold out. Even worse when they don't even offer a standard version.

Well, now assuming that the rest of the photos are genuine, it looks like a fairly substantial number of copies were sent out. Still going first thing on Tuesday, though.

Its TV on Blu-ray. Do you really think it will be a major sellout? I'm sure they'll get more.

The series is pop-culture popular, it's Halloween, and it's in a collectible VHS-styled case. Personally, I'm erring on the side of caution and grabbing one early.

Just recently, Rick & Morty fans were not only spending $100-plus on packets of Szechuan Sauce on eBay, some were actually spending $10 a pop on framed photos of the packets. Granted, there's a big difference between a free packet of sauce anyone can grab and a $25 Blu-ray/DVD set of a series anyone with a Netflix subscription can watch "for free", but limited niche collectibles are limited niche collectibles. And this one never even received an official announcement, so who knows what the run will be like.

I've seen some pretty large numbers of exclusive copies go before noon at some Target locations. No knowing how many were scooped up by people (including employees) buying multiple copies for resale purposes, but I would rather have one rather than show up after work to find only an empty shelf where the exclusives used to be.

I'll just watch Stranger Things on Netflix like everyone else who abandoned physical media. I don't need to own this even though the case is pretty cool. If Target is the only retailer carrying this release I bet they'll have restocks of it.

Rick and Morty fans are idiots who follow a terrible joke and beat it to the ground. And sadly McDonalds fed into that with the crappy sauce that a huge chunk of the fanbase were not even born when it was originally out.

I think this one will. Target isn't big on 'getting more' when it comes to exclusives which is why I wonder if we'll see a regular BD case a week or so later.

Well, since this is now confirmed as real...
The guy who posted this on reddit also posted the DPCI number.
So if/when these are entered into stock, they should appear on brickseek here:

http://brickseek.com/target-inventor...ku=058-23-1746

currently, that info is all N/A, but it'll probably get filled in within a few days.

The case will be the selling point here. It's a thematic novelty, regardless of Netflix and physical media, and really fun one at that. In fact, its nostalgic packaging might appeal more to those who abandoned physical media. "Oh, hell, one last time".

Target's limited exclusives can be hard to predict. Some are restocked and sit on shelves, and others -- most? -- disappear before the end of release day or, at best, the week. Who knows, maybe there's a non-limited standard release already packaged up and ready to go for the second run.

All musings, of course.

If you mean the exact same case, and/or a standard blu-ray release, I'll take that bet. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the only blu-ray release for the series. And possibly the only blu-ray release in special packaging. Now I can definitely see there being a standard VD release going forward. Based on ebay listings, it seems like those already exist in some form.

I'LL ONLY BELIEVE IT WHEN WARNERS AND/OR ADAM WEST MAKE AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

I'm gonna try to swing by a Target on the way to work that morning, because I doubt the scalpers will leave any for the rest of us.

Looks like this should be available to order online starting on the release date.

Stranger Things Season 1 Collector's Edition: Target Exclusive (Blu-ray + DVD)

Good Luck getting a mint copy though.

I hope it fits inside one of those clear hard plastic rental cases but it looks slightly wider than a standard VHS case. I still have a couple of those in a box somewhere.

It really has no choice but to fudge the width. VHS boxes were only 4.25" wide, whereas DVD and Blu-ray discs are 4.75" diameter.

I think I'll snag a copy of this. My guess is once the initial shipments of the special packaging version sells out that it may be made available later but in standard packaging. The novelty factor of this makes me want it. I still think it would have been cool if there was an actual VHS with something on it but I get that it would be hard as a retail exclusive to do.
