Don’t sweat the MSRP. Sweat what you’ll actually pay.

Yikes. Well with the second season making it the entire series, I think I’ll just wait for a full series release. Then maybe get lucky and snag it as a price mistake for $40, like I did with the Twilight Zone series.

You do know that the higher the MSRP, the more you'll actually pay... right?

That's typically but not always the case. I've seen plenty of new releases where they wind up on store shelves for $22.99 or whatever, regardless if the MSRP is $39.95, $44.95, $34.95, etc.

I do feel like the reactions I've seen here and elsewhere are more "there's no way I'm paying $100 for one season!" when no one here will actually pay anything even close to that. Again, the Twilight Zone BD sets had a list price of $100, and you could find those on day one for nearly half that at the usual suspects. It's not cheap, but I really don't think it's cause for concern. Let's worry when we get closer to launch and there aren't any discounts to be had.

HOWEVER... the MSRP is the base price. Most of the people complaining about it costing $100 know how the game works. The higher the MSRP, the more you'll probably pay for it. I see the $100 MSRP and figure it's probably not going to be discounted to under $50. More likely in the $60-$70 range. Which is still pretty high.

As I already have this on DVD, an blu-ray upgrade isn't worth more than about $40 for the complete series.

Re: The Outer Limits is coming to Blu-ray - S1 on 3/27/18

what I find disappointing is the lack of quality supplements. new commentaries don't cut it for me. Where is the behind the scenes, actor interviews, creature makeup, etc. Some of this is available free on youtube... heck, even William Shatner is still around for an interview....

Right now, it is really just a PQ improvement for $100...

Maybe the 2nd season will have substantial extras?

will wait and see...

With the exception of the fact TOS are flipper discs, I have no issues with the quality of the recordings on these DVDs, I don't know how much of an improvement you can make with a B&W series, I'm fine with these DVDs. My only complaint might be with some of the sound effects being a bit loud (The Bellero Shield), I imagine with all the bells & whistles inherent with blu-ray, the sound effects would be even less tolerable on my setup anyway.

The same improvement you'd see in a black and white movie. The Twilight Zone is jaw-droppingly gorgeous on BD (aside from the handful of shot-on-video episodes), and there's no mistaking that for a DVD. I'm not sure if the remastering of The Outer Limits will reach those same heights, but if it does, that's absolutely something to be excited about.

That is very true.

Re: The Outer Limits is coming to Blu-ray - S1 on 3/27/18

Kino just announced that on S2 there will be a bonus disc of supplemental material. No specs/details yet.

I will wait for 1) reviews of the PQ, and 2) details of the S2 bonus disc before I make a purchase decision.

I just hope they are not looking at sales of S1 to see if they will do a S2 or not. I think the $100 price tag, with lack of meaningful supplements, will have many people - like myself - waiting for a complete S1/S2 box set.

We're starting to see some discounts from other retailers. DiabolikDVD has it for $62.99. I'm sure we'll see something in the fifties before street date (and way below that before the year's out).

Wow! $100 for a single season? That's kind of crazy.

It's close to what CBS was charging for the TZ seasons when they first came out.

The Outer Limits is very, very slightly cheaper, to the tune of 3 cents. The first season of The Twilight Zone had an MSRP of $99.98 when it first came out on Blu-ray.

The Twilight Zone did have video-based extras that The Outer Limits doesn't, along with a higher episode count (36 vs. 32). The Outer Limits has more commentaries (24 vs. 19) along with the 40 page booklet.

I have to agree with you! I think the 90's series was one of the best things ever to come to TV!!!
