Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I enjoyed the first, not entirely sure I saw the second, and I definitely didn't see the third or fourth. But I'm gonna buy this set because I am totally into this new line and I like helping sales.

The Wishmaster series is fairly watchable. The movies are standalone if I remember correctly, so there isn't much need to see them in order or anything.

Glad the A/V got great reviews!

I still need to pick up the previous two releases but I'm looking forward to finally owning this.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I dunno for some reason I haven't been able to bring myself to bite on any of the Vestron Video releases. To me most of what they're releasing is too obscure for my taste and too pricey to be willing to take a shot at blind buys. I wouldn't mind getting their release of Return of the Living Dead 3 eventually. The Wishmaster Collection sounds interesting too but I don't know that I've seen the films (I've heard of them) and four films for $40 is decent.

Yeah, these are way over-priced for what you get. I did pick up ROTLD3, but most of these are marginal, bargain-bin quality titles that don't justify the $35-40 price tags.

I feel the same way about Scream Factory and Arrow, too, but the catalogs they have access to tend to be of a bit more qualtity. But $35 for Creepshow 2 is pushing it. I have bought a number of the Scream titles (Lifeforce, DotD, Fog, Howling, Thing, etc.) but pass on most of the b-level titles.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I got Creepshow 2 at Target for less than $20.00. The MSRP is high, but I typically find these Arrow/Scream/Vestron titles for less than $20 each.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

It just seems like most of the Vestron Video releases I've seen are $30 or more which seems really high to me. Maybe I've missed sales or something but if I ever browse their stuff it always seems in that range. I guess for me Scream Factory has put out more high profile releases along with some hidden gems. Plus I don't think I've paid more than $25 or so for a single title (and that's rare most have been closer to the $15-$20 range).

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I was looking forward to getting the Vestron titles during B&N's 40% off with coupons on top of it, but then they stopped allowing coupons with the sale so there went that =/
I finally picked a couple up during Target's B2G1 sale last week, they came out to like $17 each which is still more than I would have liked to have spent but I don't know how likely it will be to get them for cheaper than that.

Meh. I'll buy them to support the line but neither film is very good.

Re: Vestron Video Collector's Series (Lionsgate)

I would like to support this line more, but the titles for the most part are super expensive.

The only ones I have are Warlock, Wishmaster and Return of the Living Dead 3, which I got as a gift. I bought Warlock and Wishmaster when they went on sale at Amazon.

Yes, I know if the titles get heavily discounted, the line doesn't make money.

So, I have to be choosy on which ones I really want. And right now with titles being mostly $25+, I can't really afford to frivoluusly buy them.

I bought Chopping Mall, and I saw Waxwork at a local theater. I would like the Waxwork Bluray, but the prices do kind of turn me off from seeing more movies from this line.

I have to say that Dagon had a highly DNRed transfer. Skin looked waxy and shiny. It did not feel like watching a film. I think I'm going to hold off on pre-ordering Vestron titles until reviews are out.

That's what has been posted about the Umbrella Release from Australia as well

Luckily I didn't sell off my DVD before I bought the Vestron Release.

I'm honestly not the pickiest of viewers when it comes to transfers, so far I would say Vestron releases haven't been mind-blowing, but perfectly acceptable. But Dagon is definitely among the most disappointing releases in my collection.

I'm the same way about Predator 4K UHD. I'm gonna wait and see. I've come to terms with the possibility that I may never get rid of my dvd.
