Early customers are now the beta testers for most releases. It's obvious that larger television sets are receiving virtually no quality control or testing before release.

Such as compression-hell releases like Supergirl season 1 with 20 episodes crammed onto three bluray discs. (ie. 7 episodes crammed into ~35GB per disc. More than 10GB of wasted empty space per bluray disc!).

Against my better judgement, I picked up the season 5 bluray of Person of Interest.

I noticed two of the discs had five episodes per disc, at only around 30 gigs per disc. (The third disc was a single-layered disc at around 24 gigs). Approximately 6 gigs per episode.

It appears Warner is now cutting corners in the direction of compression-hell, just like the bottom-feeders Mill Creek. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't pick up the Blindspot season 1 bluray (however tempting it was).

It seems like Warner is buying into the notion of "streaming quality is good enough" for their recent tv show blurays. So much for being in the tv on bluray market.

Notice how the other studios have largely stopped issuing TV on BD. WB is at least still putting them out. Blindspot turned out rather nicely on Blu-ray.

Good point ^.

I'm undecided on whether I'll start picking up Blindspot on bluray. First I want to see whether Warner will go even further downhill into compression-hell, with a (hypothetical) season 2 bluray set of Blindspot.

The only other current network show I could be interested in on bluray, would be Blacklist. But with the less than stellar season 3, I decided not to pick up the season 3 bluray. (I have seasons 1 and 2 on bluray). With season 4 being a total joke so far, I'm even less inclined to pick up a (hypothetical) season 4 bluray of Blacklist.

For example, if Warner lowers themselves further down to crappiness such as cramming 8 episodes onto one bluray disc, at 4 or 5 gigs (or less) per episode.

(ie. Turning four-disc 22-24 episode bluray season sets, into three-disc bluray season sets).

It is impossible to find the Miami Vice set in perfect condition since all of them have dents and nicks along the corners and edges of the boxes.

My set arrived from Amazon in perfect condition. No crushed corners or anything of the like.

My Miami Vice replacement discs came in the mail today.

For the record, it's 2 discs from season 1 and 1 disc from season 4.

I don't have a sophisticated audio setup, so I wouldn't have noticed the bad audio mixes anyways, but I figured why the hell not and sent in a request for them.

I've been watching Miami Vice on my bedroom TV, so no audio setup. But that audio echo is very noticeable. Also got my replacement discs, but I'm almost done with the series.

I managed to snag a new, sealed copy of the Miami Vice Blu-ray set on eBay for $41.50 with free shipping, a price I'm pretty happy with. Sent off for the replacement discs, BTW, Mill Creek didn't even bat an eye despite the fact that it was bought on eBay. In fact the replacement discs arrived a couple of days ahead of the actual set. Looking forward to spinning the pilot today while I work out.

I got my replacement discs in the other day. You can tell that they are replacements by the numbers under where the disc is numbered. The originals didn't have that. Mill Creek got it done for us and the set is well worth the money. The only things I wish it had would be a couple of special features and subtitles or closed captioning.

Re: Knight Rider, Miami Vice Complete Series Blu-rays -- 10/4/16

Ditto for me on the subs. Also, I wish the audio was a lot "hotter", i.e.: louder. For such a music driven show the audio is fairly weak IMO. Granted, I'm not using a surround sound system or anything as I like it as simple as possible, but for at least the first disc of season 1 I have to crank the volume to about 92/100 to really have a comfortable volume level. A small quibble I know. Still a tremendous value especially compared to the average price of the U.K. set.

I watched the pilot of Miami Vice and so far it looks good though the menus look amateurish and like somebody created them on their computer with their own software program.

One thing that did not change was Phillip Michael Thomas overacting.
