Re: UHD release announcements

Lionsghate Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray Sylvester Stallone's Rambo 4K (2008), starring Sylvester Stallone, Julie Benz, Matthew Marsden, Graham McTavish, and Reynaldo Gallegos. The release will be available for purchase on September 3.

Synopsis: The ultimate American action hero returns – with a vengeance! After spending several years in northern Thailand operating a longboat on the Salween River, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) reluctantly agrees to carry a group of Christian missionaries into war-torn Burma. But when the aid workers are captured by ruthless Nationalist Army soldiers, Rambo leads a group of battle-scarred, combat-hardened mercenaries on an epic, last-ditch mission to rescue the prisoners – at all costs.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Audio Commentary with Sylvester Stallone (Theatrical Cut Only)
  • "It's a Long Road: Resurrection of an Icon" Featurette
  • "A Score to Settle: The Music of Rambo" Featurette
  • "The Art of War: Completing Rambo" Multi-Part Featurette
  • "The Weaponry of Rambo" Featurette
  • "A Hero's Welcome: Release and Reaction" Featurette
  • "Legacy of Despair: The Real Struggle In Burma" Featurette
  • "Rambo: To Hell & Back" Director's Production Diary
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Theatrical Trailer

I will probably get this. I got First Blood, Rambo 2 and 3 4K last year when they were on sale. I'll get this one when it's $15 or less.

Re: UHD release announcements

Rambo was an unexpected return to form for the franchise. It's one of the few "modern" sequels to a beloved franchise that actually works.

Re: UHD release announcements

^One of those guilty pleasures but should have been released as a double feature with An Innocent Man starring Tom Selleck.

David Cronenberg’s ‘Crash’ Is Getting An Uncut, NC-17 4K Restoration That Will Premiere At Venice

It’s hard to believe but David Cronenberg’s erotic thriller “Crash” is already 23-years-old. Debuting at the Cannes Film Festival, winning the Special Jury Prize, the film has sustained a cult audience due to its unique story and, of course, the controversy that comes with any film that depicts sexual situations that are instigated by violence. Now, almost a quarter-century after its premiere, “Crash” is getting a brand-new 4K restoration and a spot at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Recorded Picture Company and Turbine Media Group have completed work on their 4K restoration of “Crash” that was supervised by the film’s writer-director Cronenberg and director of photography Peter Suschitzky. Perhaps best of all, the 4K restoration is the uncut, NC-17 version of the film. As mentioned, the film has been selected to screen at this year’s Italian festival and will then look for worldwide distribution afterward.

It looks like Disney is releasing both versions of Aladdin (animated and live action) on 9/10, along with a bunch of Pixar movies. Best Buy also has the steelbooks up at $35 each.

Re: UHD release announcements

The early word on Don't Look Now is on the brink of rapturous. I just ordered the steelbook from Zavvi, and I placed a long overdue order for They Live as well. I've meant to order those 4K Carpenters for ages but keep kicking the can for whatever reason.

Discotek announced their first Ultra HD Blu-ray title at Otakon: Space Adventure Cobra: The Movie.

...although it'll probably just be the overly DNR-ed master that's already on UHD BD in Japan.

Several anime movies have already hit UHD in Japan and have been importing them.

If that Scarface Limited Edition statue is not cheap plastic I will buy that edition.

Can't wait to get my hands on the 4K. Going to throw a cocaine party.

Re: UHD release announcements

The European ratings wouldn't be so bad if they were smaller, but they take up a huge amount of space that always clash with artwork and cover design.
