Re: UHD release announcements

I believe that would be Troma's first 4Ks, definitely gonna wait on reviews first. Hopefully they include the uncut version of part 3, unlike the R-rated BD.

Some more details from Troma's Chris Lanphear:
  • Vinegar Syndrome did the 4K transfers of all four films.
  • Additional restoration work was done to find as much complete footage as possible.
  • The box set will be distributed by Troma, not by VS or anyone else.
  • The 4K versions of the films have HDR.
  • The accompanying Blu-ray Discs are taken from the new transfers.

Re: UHD release announcements

Is the Running Man 4k really a limited edition or out of print now?

It is hard to find and Amazon and Best Buy don't have it but I got it from Wal-Mart online.

Umbrella Entertainment is releasing Weird: The Al Yankovic Story in Australia in April, in standard edition, a collector's edition with book, artcards, slipcase and poster and a collector's edition also with a Hawaiian shirt

Re: UHD release announcements

With Umbrella being a VS partner label, I wonder if this will make its way there.

Rights issues will probably get in the way. Roku is pretty hellbent on Weird being exclusive to their channel and has pushed back against a physical release anywhere they control the film (which they do in the US and don't in Australia).

Sounds about right. I’ll plan on importing.

If price is the driving factor, why not just watch it on Roku for free? I’d rather pay a little more and have a legitimate copy (especially in 4K/HDR!) vs. a BD-R bootleg.

Will that Superman set have all 3 cuts of Superman and the 2 cuts of Superman II in 4K?

It says 5 films. So it’s 1, 2, The Donner Cut, 3, 4 is my guess. The original Superman 4K disc that came out a few years ago was only the theatrical cut. That’s what I assume will be used here.

Re: UHD release announcements

I’ll definitely grab that Superman set. I never upgraded my snapper dvd set. I did pick up that Warner Archive BD of the two extended cuts of the first film.

I saw that and assumed they were counting Superman Returns, because I didn't notice the cover also says "1978 - 1987".

Re: UHD release announcements

They should have included Superman Returns with the set in my opinion but definitely not a dealbreaker. Looks like I will buy the original Superman series for the umpteenth time. I will probably just place them inside the old DVD Steelbox type container I still have...which is what I did with the Blu-Rays.
