But as far as I know, Target is the only retailer that does their exclusives online only.

And just an FYI, those who are buying the Target exclusive of Game of Thrones season 5, it does look like it'll be online content only. Cause it's Target I guess.

I'll take a barebones gimmick free edition of the roadshow version.

As I posted earlier, it certainly could have changed. I have the previous season bonus disc from Target.

I'll be bummed if it's online only, but since the price is 34.99 (with a $10 GC) I'm still getting it cheaper than other places anyway, and getting an added bonus on the digital copies.

Speaking of digital copies - I wonder if GoT will still be redeemable at iTunes or it switched to UV only.

Best Buy and Walmart have had a few. I know that Best Buy's one-third of the Star Trek Into Darkness documentary was online only (while Target's was on the second disc) and Walmart had an online exclusive featurette for Thor Dark World.

It's really a crapshoot as to whether or not it's a disc or an online redemption code.

That's not true, Spectre came with a bonus disc (a DVD). And just recently, Mission Impossible Rogue Nation came with a bonus blu ray disc.

I'll probably grudgingly buy the Target release, but if this continues it could be bad news for my collecting habits.
This is one of the main reasons I sold off my collection & completely gave up physical media years ago. A HTPC & 12TB of space is a much better choice IMO.

Does anyone know if the extra/alt scenes in the Roadshow Version will at least be included as a bonus feature?

Why wouldn't it be redeemable at iTunes? HBO allows you to redeem it in UV, iTunes and Google Play.

I haven't seen the film yet but hopefully eventually the roadshow edition of the film makes it out as well. Not that I'll know any better but I'd be interested in seeing the different cuts.

I saw both but I definitely prefer the Roadshow Version/Cut. There are some scenes that were extended in the Theatrical Cut that really didn't need to be.

Though with Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair still not on any home media release, I wouldn't be surprised if the Roadshow Version goes in the same direction.

Possibly, but the fact that we know for a fact that the Roadshow version exists, and TWBA may never have been completed gives me some hope. I think a more applicable comparison would be Grindhouse. Originally only the the two films were released individually in extended form, and it wasn't until later down the line they released the complete theatrical cut.

TWBA exists. It screened at the New Beverly in 2011.

I wished I cared now, but I just don't. So Tarantino is being a dick about it and the Roadshow of Hateful 8. So be it.

That is not true

You had to go to a Target store if you wanted to buy the Interstellar Blu-ray steelbook and most of their exclusives you have to go to the store unless you do a pre-order.

Sorry, I meant the exclusive bonus content. Target mostly does digital online content only. I'd say it's not 80% digital/20% disc based now.

Yup. There is a pic of the DVD artwork around here somewhere. I'm too lazy to search for it. The Japan all-color version never made it to BD, either.

It was screened last year at the New Beverly as well. I believe it was the same print that Tarantino first screened at Cannes.

Which is very nice, Quentin, and I love 35mm as much as you, but some of us need home video since we don't live in California and aren't independent wealthy enough to buy prints.

Re: THE HATEFUL EIGHT: Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD -3/29/16

Ordered this via Walmart.com and got the Instawatch/VUDU code and have redeemed it. I cannot confirm that it can be played yet, because I am not at my home theater. On the upperhand right corner it says no PC and no iOS.

We'll see when I get home.

And it plays awesomely via the VUDU app through the PS4.

A full 3 weeks before the BD and 9 days before the official Digital HD release date of 3/15.

I'll take it.

Re: THE HATEFUL EIGHT: Blu-ray+DVD+Digital HD -3/29/16

Target exclusive is going to be $22.99 next week per their ad. It also sounds like the bonus content is on a disc, don't know if it's a DVD or blu ray though. The $5 preorder gift card is still active, but still priced at $24.99

I think I'm still going to go with the Best Buy steelbook though. Looks good!

Spoiler:

I'm going the other way- I'm going to wait in hope of a future UHD Blu-ray release.

Traitorous bastard! We trained you! We trusted you! And now Tarantino is fighting for 70mm and you're abandoning physical media, you damned Judas .
