It was $4.99 or something on some website. I didn't have a Blu-ray player yet but it was too good a deal to pass up.

Got the Mission: Impossible Trilogy early even though the HD DVDs have VC-1.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

I jumped on the red cases (hd-dvd) first. Accordingly to Amazon my fist HD-dvd purchased was for Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow, Ray, & The Last Samurai on September 3, 2006. I brought 44 before buying my 1st blu-ray accordingly to Amazon.com. The blu-ray was 300 purchased on August 6, 2007. Why this blu-ray I'm not sure since I know I also had this on HD-Dvd.

The format war was tricky I agree. Also had many HD DVDs before I started to buy Blu-rays.

The Prestige. It's what originally prompted me to find a way to afford a Gen 1 BD player.

For a disc that got released so early in the format's lifespan and didn't come from a DI, it's amazing how good that still looks.

After hearing the news about "Prince". I'm going to pull out a Hd-Dvd player from the closet along with "Purple Rain" on Hd-Dvd.

I watched my Blu-Ray of PR yesterday. Damn, RIP Prince.

First Blu-ray I got was actually a 3 pacl - 50 First Dates/Invincible/Night At The Museum - that I got free at Best Buy when I bought my PS3.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

I'm pretty sure my initial Blu-ray purchase was a batch of them from Amazon back in 2009.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Blade Runner (5-disc non-briefcase edition)
Chuck Season 1
Mad Men Season 1

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

I can't remember, but it was probably part of a free deal when buying a Blu-ray player.

When I bought my player I got these three:

Reservoir Dogs 15th (holofoil cover), Halloween, and Star Trek 2009.

Re: What was your 1st Blu-ray?

Not counting the occasional combo pack before I owned a Blu-ray player, probably The Edge. It's a great movie, but the only DVD release of it was non-anamorphic.

This or one of several other free promo BDs from around that time. I probably had 30 free or bargain discs before I got a player.
