The 60gb PS3 I bought came with Talladega Nights. I can't remember what I bought first though.

That was a deal from Disney/Buena Vista that I think was meant just for retailers- you went to a website and got shown some "facts" about the format and then took a quiz about them, then they let you select a free disc. I got Chicken Little from that, recently I got the 3D version of that free from Disney Rewards so I probably should've picked a different one the first time. Disney had a promotion that same year where you got a free Blu-Ray for the price of shipping (about $4) on your birthday, so I got High School Musical 2 from that (a guilty pleasure, and if you disagree I will fight you.)

Mine was the first Disney combo pack, Sleeping Beauty I think? I was futureproofing since I didn't have a BD player yet.
The first Blu-ray I ever had was some short film called Coma, the disc actually came in a magazine. Never did get around to watching it.

Planet of the Apes complete collection (Book) I swore I wouldn't buy a BD player because of all the problems with the format, but conceded because I wanted to see the original ending to Conquest, which had never been on video before.

I think it was Up! probably because it was a combo pack and I didn't have a player yet.

Pretty sure it was Ratatouille. And it still has more advanced special features than 95% of BDs being released today.

Yeah that sounds about right. I do remember having the feeling of obtaining the free Blu-ray through not-so-honest means. Of course I did obtain it and still enjoy watching it from time to time.

I hug my copy of Shark Night because it's actually in 3D, had to order it from the frickin Netherlands!

Star Trek. I'd expressed interest in getting a Blu-ray player for awhile, but it wasn't really in our budget at the time. Unbeknownst to me, my wife saved up the money to buy me one for my birthday, which is 1 December. She gave it to me a couple weeks early so that if we found anything we might want during Black Friday sales, I would be able to go ahead and get it on Blu-ray instead of thinking I was stuck with DVD. She had been certain that the A/V improvement was negligible, but we bought Star Trek when we bought the player, and only about five minutes into it when we watched it that night, she conceded she'd been wrong.

The very next day, she went out all on her own and bought Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen at Walmart (their exclusive version with the IMAX footage). I won't defend the movie, but it's a spectacular Blu-ray!

I know I got the original Fifth Element disc with my BDP-S1 in November 2006. I know bought other titles that day but can't remember exactly which ones.

Funny since I got into DVD in November 2000 and know exactly which DVD's I bought that day.

I got into DVD in '98, because I really wanted to see Tombstone in its proper aspect ratio and I realized that it was never going to get a Widescreen VHS release. (I'm also the guy who bought an N64 just so he could play GoldenEye...poorly.)

I held off on buying Blu for the longest time, condescendingly thinking the quality wasn't that much better than DVD...however, after being sick one week and housesitting for a friend that had an awesome HD set-up, I was awakened. The weekend after, I went out to buy a 1080p TV (just 40" inches) and a new sound system (I was in University and money was still tight but I did it...this is like three years ago)...After the costs of the tv, sound system, cables, etc., I wasn't left with much disposable funds so the movies I chose to pick had to be selective. My picks? First off, John Carpenter's "The Thing"...it was like watching it for the first time...One of my top five favourite movies and seeing it like that was amazing...Second movie? George Romero's "Dawn of the Dead"...while I would've liked it had the Blu had all the extras the ultimate Anchor Bay edition had, I was mainly looking at picture/audio...Looked great..Third movie? George Romero's "Day of the Dead"...Again, amazing...Fourth movie? Well, at this point I thought I should get a "current/modern" movie to see how good the quality was vs. DVD...purchased "Enter the Void"...mind blown...that movie is unbelievably good and the visuals and audio are perfectly suited to be shown on Blu-Ray...

Currently just got "Just Before Dawn" on blu and am loving it...bought it on DVD the day it came out and loved it and didn't even know it was out on blu until a couple weeks back...had to try and find a way to get it because Code Red wouldn't ship to Canada...finally found a way around that and am super happy with the quality...

Now at 600+ Blu-Rays and am loving the HD experience...

Kind of a late-comer to Blu because I didn't think it was much better than DVD - but, I was convinced it was by some fellow movie aficionados who told me that Blu was definitely better than DVD - if you watched it on a relatively large HD screen.

So, got my first Blu player & HD set in late 2012, and at the same time bought the Star Wars Saga on Blu as well. The first individual movie I bought on Blu was The Crow (1994). I was able to tell the difference between regular DVD's & Blu's immediately (in most cases). Now, it's tough to go back to watching a regular DVD after getting spoiled by Blu's...
