Nice. Might pick this up at some point if the price gets down low enough. Too bad they didn't include the two films.

Yeah, kinda weird they didn't do that. You could just toss this in there for now.

This still gives me hope that they will release the complete series of 24!!

Bring the price down to under $140 and I'll buy. Even the crappy seasons at the end.

And to think single season DVDs launched at $150 SRP each.

Wow that looks beautiful, never owned the season sets so I would love to have this set. No need to include the movies since most fans who would buy this already have the blurays.

The Foxconnect link is dead, they must have pulled it from the site.

off topic a little, but is the new series a direct continuation of the original series and movies?

As did I. However, I'd happily buy this for a chance to clean up some shelf space. It's gotta be way smaller than those gargantuan sets that were put out for the DVDs.

That's not the impression I got from the teaser I saw on Fox.

I was just thinking that. That price is a tough pill to swallow for something that I already own, and paid a pretty penny for, in SD. And how many times am I really going to watch the series again? At least once, if I got the new set. But is it worth the money to watch it possibly only once in HD?

Those original sets were huge. As soon as I could I got rid of those things and went to smaller cases. The rerelease season sets were nice, in that they were in single width cases, but they dropped the seventh disc.

If the picture of the new set is accurate, it looks like it may be about 15 inches wide. Just going by the picture, it looks like it may be a little more than three times as wide as it is deep.

Mulder and Scully and several of the key supporting characters from the original series are back. It's 100% season 10.

I have the previous complete series box set on DVD. This might be worth it just to get to watch those earlier seasons in 16:9 HD. They look kind of rough in 4:3 SD.

I have all the seasons plus the mythology compilations on DVD. I rewatched a few episodes on my portable player this year, but I don't imagine watching a ton of episodes on my BD player. And giant sets of discs seem like antiques.

And I totally remember the days of single seasons for $150!

Wasn't the X-Files one of the first series sets to come out on DVD? They were real pricy. The only other season sets that I remember being so pricy on DVD were the Star Trek season sets.

Re: X-Files Collector's Box Set - 12/8/15

The other thing aside from this not containing the two films I don't like is that if the re-launch takes off and the series comes back for more seasons this set won't be complete very long. Granted I know it is being advertised as the original series but I'd almost prefer the sets be available individually.

Star Trek first came out in those two-episodes-for $20 DVDs, which wasn't bad compared to single episodes on a VHS cassette. X-Files was the first show to come out in a full season, and Fox was just throwing shit against a wall with their $150 pricing because no had done it before. Heck, I used to buy those X-Files VHS sets with six episodes on three cassettes, so having a full season in chronological order was like a dream.

I don't remember the pricing for the first Star Trek complete seasons.

Re: X-Files Collector's Box Set - 12/8/15

Will be very interesting to see if they contain all the original extras. Fox seemed to dump many of them over time. Could have been to save space, or could have been another reason. We'll see if they make it to the blu-rays.

Do the new HD versions available online add more information on the sides of the early seasons or crop off the top and bottom?

I held off buying X-Files DVD's until the season sets hit Costco. Seem to remember searching through boxes to find the best copies of each season. Don't remember the price, but I think it was in the 49.99 ea range.

I'm sure they'll be broken out to individual seasons eventually, maybe next year.

Personally, I only want Seasons 1-5.

Any info on if these blu-rays will be 4:3 as originally broadcast, or did the open up the frame to 16:9?

I haven't seen anything to suggest it is a reboot.

The term "reboot" is being misused a lot lately.

Star Wars 7 is being referred to as a reboot, when it is actually a sequel, as is the new X-Files series.

Reboot doesn't mean something is simply coming back after a long absence. A reboot means something is being remade (i.e. the new Ghostbusters movie which starts from scratch to tell a similar story as the original).

Re: X-Files Collector's Box Set - 12/8/15

I ordered it before foxconnect.com took the page down and it still shows as processing in my account. Hopefully for the Complete Series box set FOX offers both framing for the first seasons like the Battlestar Galactica series.
