Holy shit, it's about fucking time! In a 20th Anniversary edition, too.

Pre-ordered!

Will it have the English dubbed audio? Too many BD releases of foreign films these days do not have English dubs included, intentionally it seems. A shame. At least give those of us who don't want the original foreign-language audio the option of an English dub if one exists!

Hoping it's a worthy upgrade compared to my DVD copy. Will wait for reviews though. Been burned by poor quality enough to no longer pre-order catalog titles before they are reviewed.

I've seen an HD broadcast of it which was a big jump up from my old DVD. So my guess is it'll be quite good, as those generally seem to correlate pretty well (just like Vanilla Sky, which had an extremely soft HD broadcast, and that held true on the Blu-ray).

This is one of my top 5 movies, so I'm in.

Just got an email from Amazon saying this has been pushed back to: November 17, 2015.

Re: The City of Lost Children (Amazon Exclusive) on Blu-ray October 13!!!

Here's the official reason why:

The manufacturer has changed the release date for The City of Lost Children Amazon Exclusive 20th Anniversary Edition [Blu-ray] to November 17, 2015 to accommodate the addition of an all-new director-supervised and approved HD Master.

Well, that "director-supervised" transfer could be bad news in terms of color timing for this release. I suspect we'll see a tealified release now. But, I'd absolutely love to be proven wrong.

Has Jeunet ever seemed to be a follower of that trend?

Jeunet has his own very weird ideas about movie color, but he's not generally a teal-and-orange guy. The director-approved transfer for Delicatessen has a heavy yellow wash. Micmacs is very amber.

All transfers for Delicatessen were rather yellow. Micmacs is the closest he's gotten to actual teal-and-orange, though A Very Long Engagement had a similar tint.

He doesn't seem to be the type to add additional filters over what previously existed, Delicatessen looked exactly the same as the original VHS -- just cleaner for the most part.

Having seen Delicatessen on 35mm, I can confirm that it was very yellow there as well.

Makes me wonder what they actually pressed. I'm guessing they started to since the original release date was in a couple of weeks.
