Steelbook looks sweet, but I don't think I liked the move enough to own it.

But is it PG-13? That's odd seeing that on the cover.

Even though the movie wasn't great, I liked it better the second time around. No brainer purchase for me, probably just the normal Blu-ray unless there's any deals that put the collector's edition cheaper.

Just a couple days before my birthday too.

It appears that Ultron think's it is odd as well.

Day one purchase for me. I like the Steelbook but all the rest of the MCU films I own are in standard Blu-ray cases so I'll just get the regular version to be uniform with the other films.

I'll wait for BF, where it will likely be a doorbuster.

I have the first one as a steelbook so it's a no brainer to get it too.

rumor has it that Whedon had to delete over 30 minutes of footage. I was REALLY hoping that there would be an option to seamlessly branch these scenes in.

That is a LOT of deleted scenes to ponder on the impact on the movie....
anything that can help that Thor in the pond scene make sense is welcomed..

That scene was almost certainly foreshadowing Thor 3: Ragnarok so it won't make sense until taken into context with that movie.

I believe it was foreshadowing because Ragnarok is the Norse version of the Apocalypse, and that scene definitely had an "end of days" kind of feel to it.

We know that but it just feels so out of place w/ the rest of the film. Marvel sometimes gets it right w/ making an interconnected world but stuff like IM and then the Thor bit in AoU just feel so forced.

Granted... Cap 2 then added a layer of depth to IM2 but still....

I can't believe that was the thing that was an issue to have. To keep Barton's home, Whedon had to keep the Thor bit. Thor narratively feels so off once he leaves and then comes back for Vison's birth. Awkward placement of him.

Honestly, I'm genuinely surprised Marvel didn't edit the film to include the extra deleted footage and output it to theaters at the end of the summer as a special edition release in an order to get more money at the box office as well as tout a deluxe edition on Blu-ray.

I'm curious if Target or another retailer will have a copy with a bonus disc similar to the first film.

It sounded like when this film was released in May, that the extended cut would absolutely positively make it out on disc when it was released in September.

The fact Whedon has no interest whatsoever to go back in and massage this material a little more, after the pacing was almost universally criticized, tells me his experience with Marvel as producers this time SERIOUSLY pissed him off. I knew there were major disagreements over the safe house/Ragnarok stuff- but to me this implies more serious, lingering rancor.

If they had parted ways on good terms, I can't believe Marvel would let 30 minutes of footage go to waste, especially when theatrically, the appearance is it underperformed a little, and most people seemed to want more connective tissue in this film.

Totally agree. I would go and see a different cut of the film in the theater. At least buy the 'extended cut'. Look at Xmen DOFP. How many people do you think will be double dipping on that one?

I agree- something is amiss here. It is not like a big studio to leave money on the table and consumers less than satisfied with a franchise like this.

Will this be like alien 3 and we will have to wait 10 years to get a retrospective on what REALLY happened behind the scenes?

If any movie needed deleted scenes branched in as an option, AoU is it!

To me the lack of an alternate cut isn't surprising. None of the other Marvel films have had one but I've read rumors about longer cuts of The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3, and Thor: The Dark World.

I know for the Incredible Hulk there was at least one deleted scene. In the Avengers movie, Banner mentions that he tried to eat a bullet but the Hulk spat it out. This was actually filmed for The Incredible Hulk but it was not in the final movie release.

The moment mentioned and the deleted intro are not the same. Most likely a nod to it but they're very different. Norton's Banner never gets to actually commit the act. Ruffalo's actually went through it and it was stopped by the Hulk.

The Incredible Hulk BD has a lot of deleted scenes. Many of which are more narrative and character development. The intro along w/ other scenes would have greatly added the needed layer of depth to the film. I like the film but it does lack.

That intro is great. Cap's discovery would have a gone a bit different from it too. It was fun to see him in the ice like that.

I heard Ant Man is the last one in the phase 2. I assume a box set will come out just like the phase one I have. I may wait

<s>Apparently Disney/Marvel is pushing the release date forward a bit.

We're looking at September 8th for the digital download and September 14th for the DVD/BDs.</s> Nevermind, the updated release date was for the UK (and maybe other European territories?) but not over here.

I didn't like the movie enough as is to own it. An extended cut would have gotten me to purchase it, but I think now I'll just pass.

The VOD date is Sept 8th. It's priced at $19.99 (HD). It'll have Bonus Features, but so far it doesn't say what's included.

Should be DMA, so it'll transfer to Vudu, iTunes and Google Play. And it'll include 150 DMR points.
