This, more so than the prices, has always been Best Buy's biggest issue.

Ordered at $19.99 now $29.99.
Yep, that's why I ordered it for in store pick up as soon as it was available. They do still have a 50/50 chance of fucking it up though. Maybe the SKU will save them.

I don't trust Best Buy with steelbook releases anymore. I treat them like the Target DC animated releases. Preorder or get there first thing or there is a good chance you won't get one.

Watch it last night and really enjoyed it. Never saw it in theater but did some of the action scene look like a little speed up? That one scene
Spoiler:
when Max was escaping from the War Boys in the beginning I thought I hit the speed button on the remote, it was kind of weird.

That's intentional and a George Miller trademark throughout the MM world.

It is. It's not done cuz Hardy or whoever couldn't do it, it's there to emphasize Miller's visual style.

Question: I've ONLY seen Miller's Mad Max films, and his Twilight Zone bit a long time ago, but is his style used in the MM films pretty much contained in that world or has he used it in others in some way? Like that you can tell it's Miller directing and such?

Yeah, it's only exclusive to MM's world.

Good luck!
Well turns out my situation was just like everyone else's. They gave away all the Steelbooks and didn't keep any back for pre orders. At least I got a 3D version for $20 instead.
Now lets see them screw up the F&F7 Steelbook preorder as well....

Same for me ... no steelbooks pulled to cover the preorders. Like others, I was offered the 3d blu for no additional cost.

Mad Max Fury Road Steel book Blu Ray is back in stock at BB for $19.99. Just ordered one shipped to my house. Had a $5gc that was going to expire soon.

This may be the best looking and sounding disc released this year. Absolutely rocks in the home theater.

Really enjoyed this one. Can't wait to rewatch it on Blu! Still can't decide which edition to pick up though - the Interceptor edition looks great, but it's so damn pricey. I'll most likely just get the Steelbook.

And they seem to have issues like this at EVERY Best Buy! I quit going. It used to be my "go to" store, but the people who work there have no clue, nothing's on the shelves, and you can't find anything. Reminds me of Circuit City before they closed.

Really makes me wish I had a round system worth a damn to go with my new calibrated 64" plasma.

Had to pay $50 for the steelbook on eBay. I hate scalpers. I hate them.

And yet you paid a scalper $30 dollars ($20 was for the blu)...

You didn't "have" to do shit. Same exact blu-ray in the regular packaging.

So do I, but paying them gives them validation to keep their act up.

According to BestBuy.com, the Steelbook is back in stock again (for 29.99). I ordered it and am hopeful they come through.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Sept. 1)

I went for the German Steelbook in the end as it was the easiest one for me to get. Unfortunately, it has "3D" printed in big letters on the front and the overall finish is pretty awful, so I wouldn't recommend getting that one.

I didn't think they'd restock it.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Sept. 1)

I didn't either, but they shipped mine.

Now to bring it into the store and see what they can do to fix their massive pre-order screw up. At very least they should let me swap my (still unopened) 3D copy for this. I'll talk to the manager and see what we can swing...

He refunded $15 of the $30 I paid. Then they refunded $28 for the 3D version I had (I had paid $20 for it since they didn't have the Steelbook pre-order, but that's what the register refunded me). So the total for me to get the Steelbook Blu Ray with tax was like $8.
I talked to a friend who also got a 3D version because he too missed out on his Steelbook preorder, but unlike me doesn't have a 3D display. He is going to sell me his 3D disc for $10, so I'm set now.

BTW : The Steelbook now shows as in stock again and only $19.99 now.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road (Sept. 1)

how is the 3D Blu-ray? i have 2D and wasn't thinking of upgrading bc i think i saw it in 3D in theater and didn't think it was that effective. wondering if home video shows it a lot better...
