Re: The One and Only Kino Lorber Blu-ray Thread

By all rights, I ought to really enjoy Ace High, but that's not how things shook out. I'm usually a pretty cheap date for spaghetti westerns too! Ambitious but unfocused and poorly paced, I wouldn't recommend buying this one sight-unseen.

The Missing in Action trilogy box set has a preorder price of $39.99 right now. That's actually not bad. About $13 per movie. I went ahead and put in a preorder.

Just an FYI, it could be on sale for $25-30 during Kino’s March sale.

A friend gave me the Olive Films BD of Secret Admirer a few years ago for Christmas. Looks like Kino got the rights now and are releasing a new HD master with new extras. Guess I need to upgrade.

Heat, not directed by Michael Mann only with the same title, with Burt Reynolds playing a Latino coming to BD.

I'm sure that's what you meant, but there actually is an "original version" of Heat called LA Takedown that is directed by Mann. Heat, starring Burt Reynolds, is not that movie.

Yeah that’s what I meant. Just same title.
I know you have to be 100% clear in text otherwise people get confused easily. My bad.

My copy of Death Wish 4K from KL is arriving today. I had a $25 Amazon GC, so I went ahead and splurged on it. It's the 1st premium copy I have of the 1st movie. I still have the old crummy Paramount DVD.
Now I have:
Death Wish 4K from Kino Lorber
Death Wish 2 BD from Shout
Death Wish 3 BD from Ronin flix/Scorpion Releasing
Death 4 BD from MGM
Death Wish 5 I have on DVD and that one is unlikely to get a BD release. I think Lionsgate owns the rights.

I watched about 80-85% of Death Wish last night before I fell asleep. The new transfer looks good. Can't believe that movie is about to turn 49.
Like other KL 4K titles, all the video extras are on the BD like the interview and trailers. I am interested in listening to Paul Talbot's commentary. He really knows his Bronson material.

Re: The One and Only Kino Lorber Blu-ray Thread
Great news on that STONE COLD release. I was so disappointed when Olive released it sans extras. Even back then, it wouldn't have been hard to source interviews with most of that cast. Really wish they could've gotten Craig Baxley for an interview or, better yet, a commentary. Shout Factory got him to sit for an interview for their I COME IN PEACE disc, and surely he's not super busy these days. His first three movies were all way above-average B-movies back in the day -- these two plus ACTION JACKSON -- and then he transitioned to mostly forgettable made-for-TV fodder for the remainder of his career. Maybe he's just not that interested?
