DC Animated Universe Films

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
My library is showing copies of both blu ray and DVD. But they might just be taking the DVD copy from the blu ray set and tossing it in a printed case.

Weird, the steelbook is showing not available at all stores around me and one store far away shows limited availability, but no store pickup. Maybe since they are doing a future release with both movies the steelbook wasn't widely available for this release?

Reign is also up for streaming on the DC Universe sub. Is that going to be the norm for these going forward?

While I have a copy arriving today that I pre-ordered, I was curious so I stopped by Target as they opened. My local store had five steelbooks of the Blu-ray and two of the UHD despite showing both out of stock online

While it is nice for subscribers it is kind of ass backwards logic. Put up your new animated features at the same time as the home media release, so why would most even buy unless they're just hardcore DC collectors? I would think it would be more sensible to wait like a month or two at least to generate some sales from the discs.

Of course this is the same team that said they were going to have a combined Death/Return of Superman movie before the second part was even out.

Regarding the Death/Reign combined film, like I said earlier WB should just put the kibosh on their rule of the animated features only being 75 minutes for some of these that are intended as two parts. Its pointless releasing two separate parts for what's intended as one film when you just do a combined release anyways. This is the second time they've done it and they're doing it again with The Long Halloween.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films
Maybe it's just me but I would rather it be broken down into two separate movies. I don't really want to sit down and watch a 2 1/2 to 3 hour animated movie.
That being said, I would rather only pay $20 for one release though if it were a double disc.

Surprising as I thought they were firm on that 75 minute mark for these. That's still not much more than the standard length though and still should have just been given the green light to do a single release rather than dick fans around into buying three releases.
I wouldn't sit through a couple hours or more for all the films, but when they warrant being longer it just would make more sense to me to do a single release right away.

WB is strict on the length because every minute of extra animation adds to the budget. Time is money in animation. Supposedly the Superman DTVs have never sold as well as the Batman ones.

But clearly they know they’re doing two parts for some of these films anyways. The Death/Reign release was announced as a two parter up front and they’ve done the same with the upcoming announcement for The Long Halloween. It comes off as blatantly milking fanboys.

The movie does kind of whitewash and reset Lois and Clark's relationship in this animated movieverse.

Justice League vs. the Fatal Five trailer:

Since it will hit DC Universe the same day as the physical release, I'll just stream it there.
