Everyone ok if we add a + to the thread title after 2015? We don't really need a new thread, right?

re: DC Animated Universe Films

Had a chance to use the search button to see if I was right about Gods and Monsters having a steelbook listed on Target's site. No mention of it anywhere, but there indeed was one. Both separate and part of the box set with the figure.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/12546352-post124.html

I posted that the day before release after having looked for the steelbook listing on the site. No listing, but they did exist.

I would say there is at least a chance that this Bad Blood release will be no different. Both a limited separate steelbook and in the deluxe versions with the figure.

If so, looks like I'm stuck with just the two I bought last round Batman Year One and The Death of Superman since I already have Throne of Atlantis and the Dark Knight Returns steelbook.

How's the Wonder Woman book/Blu from the first batch? I don't have that one.
edit : Didn't have that second Justice League one (Crisis on Two Earths) so since it's still $14.99 at Amazon, I bought that one now. Hope it's good.

I can't speak to the book, but I consider the WW movie to be one of the better titles in the DC animated line.

Weird that it wasn't on the site, but Bluray.com always has a listing for them

re: DC Animated Universe Films

Best Buy is getting a version that includes a hard cover novel. $35 is a little steep. I guess you can only get it with that little figure though. Still no word on a Target steelbook.

I still need to pick up Batman vs. Robin. Other than that I'm most excited for The Killing Joke (really hoping both Conroy and Hamill reprise their roles). I'll likely pick up Bad Blood and Justice League vs. Teen Titans when they're out too though.

Thus far an adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke has been announced as well as a new film called Justice League vs. Teen Titans.

I thought Hamill had retired his Joker? In any case, Troy Baker is pretty damn good in the part

If it's like their last Lego DC movie, it's mostly the cut scenes from the last Lego DC game (in this case Lego Batman 3) cut into a "movie" with just a little new footage.

He said that he was going to retire the character but there was an interview where he said he would do The Killing Joke if asked.

Plus
Spoiler:
He voiced The Joker again in Arkham Knight.

Why retire it? Is he just tired of doing it?

I guess I'm not really sure. The rumor floating around when Arkham City hit was that it was going to be his last time voicing the character. He must have had a change of heart though or maybe is only willing to do it for the right project. I hope very much that The Killing Joke gets Conroy and Hamill. I still fucking hate Jason O'Mara as the voice of Batman.

Ah, the race to get there before a scalper scoops all 2-3 of them up.

I don't get why they went with O'Mara. And they've been using him for a while too. I'm hung up on Conroy. I realize that. But of all of the replacement choices they've gone with, O'Mara has been one of the least interesting. He doesn't have any gravitas or grit to his voice. I liked Bruce Greenwood. He had a little more smoke to his voice, a little more bottom-end. O'Mara just sounds too bland. Too many of the actors they've picked for Batman think that the answer is just "make your voice deeper," and have any real edge.

re: DC Animated Universe Films

The recent DC animated voice casting has been bizarre with several terrible misses. It's clear that some actors get cast merely for the sales appeal of their name on the cover.

And still no separate listing for it at Target.com just like the last couple DC animated steelbooks. Just as I expected.

And like the most recent release, at least some of the deluxe edition (with figure) sold at Target will have a steelbook as well.

Hopefully just like the last few releases, my wife getting there before 9:00 am will equal me being able to get the copies I want.

I agree about the casting not being very good recently but I can't think of many big names they've gotten and advertised with. Peter Weller is about the only big name I can think of and even he's somewhat obscure to a lot of people. Glad to see that picture of Conroy and Hamill and hopefully that's an indication that they're doing The Killing Joke. Honestly I've never understood why DC doesn't continue on with films from Batman: The Animated Series/The New Batman Adventures. Its clearly still a popular franchise as DC has been doing a lot of merchandising with it over the past couple years and it seemingly is selling. I would think some direct to video films would be more than welcome.

$16.99 is not a bad price but I usually wait until they hit $10 or less. Wonder if Target may do a cartwheel offer in addition. If so, I am in.

I don't believe they have ever hard a Cartwheel offer on these DC animated releases. Even a year after the fact. They just cease to carry them.

I already have my alarm set early for Tuesday morning.
Last one they didn't put out ANY Steelbooks in the morning, but I found one later in the day.
