In their defense, there was been quite a bit of... "realignment" at Warner.

Maybe interested in Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham and Justice League: Warworld.

I have a sickening feeling they'll adapt Bendis' run on Legion for the movie.

Anyone watch the new Green Lantern one? The completionist in me feels compelled to buy it, but I really don't care for the character at all.

Why would you even say those words together? Ugh.

I didn't get a review copy this time around but did see the overpriced SteelBook at Best Buy today. I'll wait until it's cheaper.

Do they get cheaper?

I watched it last night. Pure garbage, one of the worst DTV movies they've put out so far. Poorly animated, written and executed.

Yeah, I did see a review that said the animation was super lazy outside of the action scenes.

It's that "flat" 2D animation style that looks very much like an Archer episode, but worse at times. The motion is stuttery at times. I caught quite a few errors where the animation would bleed into each other and one character would show through another.

I won't even get into how poor the script is.

Depends, sometimes Best Buy puts SteelBooks on sale which don't sell much weeks/months after release. I have a feeling this one is going to sit on shelves.

And yes, I've heard nothing good about this Green Lantern movie from fans.

I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know, but yeah, Green Lantern: Beware My Power is pretty lousy. This is the first DC movie since the post-Apokolips War reboot that I've actively disliked.

It should also be mentioned in the wave of sweeping cancellations by Discovery, they've gutted WB's animation departments. Tons of firings. While I expect the animated DTV DC movies to continue rolling, I also expect diminished quality going forward.

Wow, that really fucking sucks.

It took a while -- the movie's nearly 3 hours long, after all! -- but I've reviewed the deluxe edition of Batman: The Long Halloween. I reflexively groan whenever I see that a superhero movie is 2.5+ hours long (which means I groan a lot!), yet even though this is somewhat of a slow burn, I never found myself looking down at my watch or whatever. It uses this lengthy runtime to terrific effect, and it's actually surprisingly nimble and efficient in its storytelling. Maybe I'll regret saying this later, but I truly think it's my favorite Batman movie since Mask of the Phantasm, and that includes all the live-action movies over the past 29 years.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

The first half is awesome, everything I mostly wanted in a Long Halloween adaptation. The back half fumbles the ball a little, though overall I'd still give it mostly high marks.

Really enjoyed the review. Have fallen off the dcau train for the last 2 years or so and was only vaguely aware the long halloween existed. Will be ordering it this week.

Is there no steelbook version or deluxe edition of the Battle of the Super Sons that is being released next Tuesday? Can't seem to find the film at all on the Best Buy site and Target, Amazon and FYE seem to be only carrying regular editions of the Blu-ray and 4K

It's technically listed on bestbuy.com but just says "unavailable". I can't find any hint of a steelbook anywhere.

Full disclosure: I had borderline-zero interest in Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons beforehand, and I decided to review it more for the sake of completionism than anything else. (After thirty-or-forty-something movies, why stop now?) But I'm glad I did because despite not loving the CG animation I'd seen in stills, groaning at the title, and generally being done with Starro, it's a genuinely incredible movie. I highly recommended it and everything! I would write more, but I've been at this for hours, and it's very late here.

Finally watched the first part of The Long Halloween. It’s been a while since I’ve read it but from what I remember it seems pretty faithful to the comic. I paged through the trade copy I have and it seems like it lines up pretty well.

I like Jensen Ackles as Batman/Bruce. Also Troy Baker is a good Joker. Didn’t realize until the credits that the voice actress playing Catwoman/Selina passed away.

I will say the animation took me a minute to get used to. It’s a unique style. Not my favorite but could be worse.

I’ll probably watch part two later in the week.

Watched the second part of The Long Halloween. I can see where some people say it was more rushed and glossed over some details, but I actually thought it was paced a bit better than the first part. To me the first part almost was too slow at times.

Overall though I liked both parts fairly well. Pretty good adaptation and I liked the voice acting. Jensen Ackles is actually one of the better actors to voice Batman/Bruce to me.
