Me, too. Probably will be like TDKR releases.

The first couple were pretty bad. All these animated DC flicks are natively made in 1080P resolution. That being said, the normal Blu-rays often suffer from banding. The UHDs have much tighter compression that all but ends this banding.

It looks like Target will have two steelbooks for The Death of Superman. Regular blu ray and 4K.

Reminder that this came out today. I almost forgot but was able to swing by my local Target store and grab one at lunch time.

Personally I'm skipping this one until the sequel comes out and given the likelihood they will do what they did with The Dark Knight Returns.

I get that, but I have gotten every Steelbook since that release. Didn't want to miss out in case they don't do that this time.

Same here. Fear of eBay prices got me to buy this one in case there’s no steelbook double dip.

Forgot about The Death of Superman coming out. Might have to go grab that later tonight.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I was thinking of the ebay prices too, but they haven't been that high recently. Maybe it has to do with the more recent titles not being that popular.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

Yeah, the movies have unfortunately been more mixed recently.

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Commemorative Edition

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=23760

I already have the original edition in steelbook form, so this is an easy pass.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

They're probably releasing that to help promote Aquaman in December.

Wonder Woman released a commemorative edition of the animated movie last year and it had a featurette that had interviews with Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins.

I'm sure one of those new features will have Aquaman footage and an interview with Wan and or Momoa.

Coincidentally, minutes ago I just finished watching Justice League: Throne of Atlantis for the first time. Really enjoyed it, but I’m a sucker for all things JL. Now I’m only 20 films behind in the DCAU.

I picked the Best Buy exclusive, which this time around didn't include the figure, just a graphic novel presenting a new version of the Death of Superman story.

Not that I see

Justice League: Throne of Atlantis Commemorative Edition contains two all-new bonus features, along with special features from the film's original release:

Aquaman: The New King (NEW featurette) – An immersive look at Arthur Curry's evolution from guardian of the ocean to the King of Atlantis and key member of the Justice League.

Audio Commentary (NEW) – Renowned former DC Editor and current Creative Director of Animation Mike Carlin, Creative Director of Animation, and Throne of Atlantis screenwriter Heath Corson share their insights into the legend of Aquaman.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I didn't mean specific to the new movie. I meant a featurette that would incorporate a new interview from them. That's what was done on Wonder Woman.

I’ll have to double dip someday for that Mike Carlin commentary.

Or maybe it will be added to your existing Movies Anywhere digital copy. :fc:

anyone see Death of Superman yet? good?

Death of Superman was actually quite good. The animated movies the last few years have been very hit-or-miss, but this I definitely consider a hit. Looking forward to the sequel to this.

That graphic novel included in Best Buy's exclusive is actually the digital tie-in comic DC is newly publishing to coincide with The Death of Superman on home video. It's apparently the first four issues of the series, which details new stories set around Superman's death.

My Target only has the 4K Steelbook in stock for The Death of Superman so I might need to order it online or just grab the regular edition.

These are new stories set around Superman's death pre New 52 or something, because that death never happened in the current Rebirth universe, right?

The fact I had to type that out made me gag a little.

The death still happened post-New52. Just probably not exactly in the same way.

? I thought "our" pre new 52 Superman fought Doomsday and died and came back. When he went to the new 52/rebirth universe, and that Superman died, he expected new 52 supes to come back from death because he had come back from death before that. But it didn't happen. Unless they further muddied that.

I was a Multi-verse fan of the 60s and 70s comics.. up to about mid 80s.. after that I read some of them.. but this seems really out there and convoluted for sure..
