Indeed ;) I like Amazon France and all, but I rather not wait 3 and a half months.

My reference point for Batman are his great comics from the Seventies, so I wasn't blown away by the animated series like it had no precedent. The animated series did feature very powerful, streamlined storytelling we hadn't really seen before in animated or live form.

I read the comics but when the series aired I hadn't much or the ones I did I was too young to really appreciate. That being said though I still think it holds up as one of the best interpretations of the character ever. Everything from the look to the voice acting to the music all blends together so well. There's an almost seemingly timeless quality to it all that makes it a memorable piece of the character's history.

Yes, Kendrix and I have worked out getting him my extra copy.

I too have often seen more than one steelbook left when I get to Target but also don't want to be 'that" guy. But on the other hand, if "that" guy is getting to them people here then it's not really the same thing, right? More often than not the two Target stores I frequent often have two or more copies when I get mine. Yesterday I had seen posters saying they couldn't find one so I snagged both copies this time.

I've posted this before, but here I'll do it one more time. Always check between all the other regular case versions because there are actually Target stores (including the two I frequent) that don't seem to notice there are two types of cases and just randomly put them on the shelves.

It's sad that we have to create an interstate buddy system just so we can snag a copy.

Prime example of the reason:

Doesn't even try and hide that he/she likely grabbed every copy that store had, it not multiple stores.

Oddly enough I saw that POS seller while I was looking for a copy of Throne of Atlantis and War (the 2 steelbooks I don't have). But I don't think I want them bad enough to pay almost $40 each.

Those eBay sellers are scumbags!

I do get a kick out of the assholes who bought a shit ton of The Force Awakens steelbooks thinking they would be highly sought after on the secondary market. I guess they didn't take into account that Best Buy ordered somewhere in the ballpark of a gazillion copies.

Justice League vs. Teen Titans? It's one of the best animated DC movies from the recent ones.

It was weird at first hearing someone voice Raven other than the version heard on the Teen Titans series.

Thank you again, I really appreciate it. I will agree with that sentiment, I have found a couple of Target steelbooks due to misplacement or when I had to ask and wait very patiently. Just imagine the wonderful time I had when the Evil Dead (remake) steelbook was an exclusive at Target and I had to explain what it was and why they should have it in the back. Yes, I did get a copy.

*sigh*, maybe I should just take off that day. Mebee, if we are lucky, they will overproduce this one. I just want it on my shelf because it looks nice and I do appreciate and love these movies. And Killing Joke ought to be a masterpiece if its done right.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I'm not sure why they have different DPCI's for pretty much every other steelbook release other than these DC movies. I guess it's because they don't really have that much inventory compared to the major releases (like Creed, Straight Outta Compton, etc)

That's probably not going to help. Like others have already said (and my experience as well), getting to the store early won't mean shit if they didn't get them in at all. The store by my work hasn't received the past couple on release day. The best bet is to make some phone calls on your lunch break to see who got them in and is willing to hold a copy until you get off work. Even if it means driving a little out of your way, it's probably worth it.

Hopefully us regulars here will pick up a second copy if able to send to another regular if they need it.

How many of these Steelbooks do you guys have? I'm at five now : Batman vs Robin, Batman Bad Blood, The Dark Knight Returns Deluxe, Justice League Gods & Monsters and Justice League vs Teen Titans.
I'm kicking myself because I had seen Throne of Atlantis Steelbook when it came out, but I wasn't collecting them yet so I just passed on it.

Re: DC Animated Universe Films

I really think Target stopped tracking these correctly because there is no way they can handle them correctly given the demand. And then as we have seen, they also don't have any way to keep one customer from buying every copy itn he store in one transaction.

I will definitely pick up a couple extra Killing Jokes if possible just as I did this last time. Hoping both of my two favorite stores will be no different than before (they often have all 5 or 6 available when I get there).

What is the full list of these DC steelbooks from Target? I know I'm missing War, but I don't know if I'm missing any before or after than one.

I have eight. I believe there have only been nine so far starting with The Dark Knight Returns (which is the only one I didn't pick up since I'm not going to double dip) and going through Justice League vs Teen Titans now.

Just out of curiosity, I was checking my "metal/steel" collection on the other site and am up to 92 overall! I have two IronPacks, nine Metal Box, eight MetalPaks, SEVENTY steelbooks, one futurepak, and two Neo cases. I'm surprised my damn shelf hasn't split in half yet

Ditto, If I see a second next time, I'll pick it up as well. I have all of those you mentioned (well I will have the last one soon ;)). I also raise you Assault on Arkham as well as Son of Batman on SB which I have. I could have had War, I saw it at the same second hand shop as Assault on Arkham (that's another one I didn't get the first go around) but decided not to and it was gone the next time I went in there. Dumb on my part. There was also a steelbook for Flashpoint Paradox I believe but unfortunately I only have the regular copy (same thing for Throne of Atlantis). I think that makes 10 total.

Edit: Correction, Flashpoint only had a steelbook in France, same with Superman: Unbound, so we probably shouldn't count those. I'll revert to 9 domestic releases then :)

Nope on the Flashpoint Paradox. That came out right before The Dark Knight Returns which is why there wasn't one.

Ah, I see your correction now :)

It's Official: "Batman: The Killing Joke" Is Rated R

"Batman: The Killing Joke" has received an R-rating, making it the first DC Universe Original Movie to break the mature boundary, and the second DC film overall -- after "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which is getting an R-rated home video release -- to land the often controversial rating.

"From the start of production, we encouraged producer Bruce Timm and our team at Warner Bros. Animation to remain faithful to the original story — regardless of the eventual MPAA rating," Warners exec Sam Register said in a statement. "The Killing Joke is revered by the fans, particularly for its blunt, often-shocking adult themes and situations. We felt it was our responsibility to present our core audience — the comics-loving community — with an animated film that authentically represented the tale they know all too well."

Based on Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's famed comic of the same name, and featuring the voices of Kevin Conroy (Batman), Mark Hamill (The Joker), Tara Strong (Batgirl) and Ray Wise (Commissioner Gordon), "Batman: The Killing Joke" is set to premiere at Comic-Con International in San Diego this July, with a Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD release

So the release date for The Killing Joke will be after SD comic con? I am excited to see it. I picked up The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel/bluray combo pack a few weeks ago, these are great sets. I would get the Batman Year One but I already have the book.

If they started releasing these the same day as the steelbooks, I would switch in a heartbeat. Those graphic novels are awesome. I already picked up two I didn't have.

Agreed. I picked up four I didn't yet have Blu Rays of (Batman Year One, Superman Doomsday, Justice League - Crisis on Two Earths and Wonder Woman : Gods & Mortals. Love them (haven't watched WW yet)

If I miss out on a Killing Joke Steelbook, I would totally wait for the Hardbound Book + Blu Ray set.

That could be awhile.

I only worried about getting a steelbook of Dark Knight Returns. I have pretty much seen at least one every time but I usually just wait until they hit $10 or less.

The really good deal was when several recently were 10 bucks at Best Buy and you got a free movie ticket with them.

I am going to try to get a Killing Joke steelbook but if I miss it I will just wait for it to hit 10 bucks or less like usual.

Well I gave up on trying to find the Steelbook for Justice League Versus Teen Titans and just bought the regular version. I'll probably watch it later tonight. Hopefully I'll be able to find The Killing Joke Steelbook when it's out as I have a feeling that will be one of the best DCAU films coming up.

Meh. I think it probably earned an R pretty easily going off of the story it's based on.

So Alan Moore is a fool?

I'm not saying it needs to be toned down necessarily. But the only thing in Killing Joke that would be rated R is the rape/mysoginy. So they are either adding other content to make it R, or they are glorifying that scene.

They are adding a bit to the story with Barbara as Batgirl. I don't know what that's going to add.
