Re: Interstellar - March 31
Got the BB BD.
The extra features are on the 2nd BD. That's kind of Paramount's thing. The two BONUS features are called Creating Interstellar (13:56 mins) and Experiencing Interstellar (06:12 mins). The first one is Nolan, McConaughey, Hathaway, and Chastain talking about making the film. The latter just has McConaughey, Hathaway, and Chastain talking about it. Not really worth it. did get this Cell though. Spoiler:
what did everyone else get? |
Re: Interstellar - March 31
Looks like the Walmart price jumped up a few dollars this morning. I was thinking of placing an order for an in-store pickup, but I guess I'll pass on it now.

Was it at $19.99?

Re: Interstellar - March 31
I'll probably pick up the Best Buy version sometime today. For me exclusive video material trumps special packaging, booklets, etc.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
Pretty much for me too. I just wish the features were longer. Noah had some pretty good bonus stuff. Somewhat meaty. It's the same price as the regular BD too.

It looks like the Wal-Mart and Target exclusives are out of stock online
I think the Target edition sold out quicker though it looks inferior compared to the Neo Pack. I also ordered the Wal-Mart exclusive before that sold out. Assuming it ships and it's actually the exclusive that is ships. Now it's just a matter of which looks better in person and what to do with the extra. I'm not one of those people that keeps multiple copies of the same movie just because of packaging. |
Re: Interstellar - March 31
Grabbed the fancy WM version before work this morning. Got, what appeared to be, the last one. $22.99, IIRC.

I'm picking up the BB one. I could give a shit about a cell, but extra content is what's selling it for me.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
I hit up all three stores on my lunch break. Target had 20+ steelbooks, Wal Mart had about 6 of the NeoPacks and Best Buy had 1 with their exclusive sticker on it. After reading Snake's comment about the short feature, I skipped that one, but did grab one of each of the others. I was going to skip the NeoPack, but damn if that artwork didn't look nice and shiny :) The book that came with it looked pretty cool too. I was also able to price match the Best Buy price for $19.99, so that helped a little. I will probably end up returning the Target Steelbook.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
I got the WM neopack - it's pretty snazzy. I stopped there on the way to work at 7am, so I didn't have to deal with any people of Walmart.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
The Target steelbook is available in almost every Bay Area store except 2 within 16 miles but not online? :wtf:
Wal-mart.com cancelled my Neo Pack order from last saturday and now the only option is to pay $50 from some Ebay asshole. :brickwl2: |
Re: Interstellar - March 31
Got the NeoPack from Wal-Mart, where they had 8 copies at 4pm, and loads of the lesser versions. Ended up with the worst 70mm cell possible... a shot of the drone in the sky, and the drone is nothing but a tiny speck, barely recognizable. I thought it was a blank cell at first. So pitiful it's almost worth it for the sad story.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
Got the steelbook. They had like 10 by the registers. The Wm i went to today around 1pm had 8 of theur exclusive. My cell is a silo I think, yippee!

Re: Interstellar - March 31
Mine was the ship in the water.
|
Re: Interstellar - March 31
Mine was a side-shot of the two Matts, talking.
Also, this is one of those discs where the dialog is almost whisper quite, while the effects and music are room rattling. I hate that. |
Re: Interstellar - March 31
^ That has been discussed to death. It was done intentionally, and was that way in the theaters.
I actually found that the blu-ray release was much less egregious in that regard than when I saw it in IMAX. |
Re: Interstellar - March 31
Got the Target Steelbook, kinda annoyed that there's no place inside to keep the film frame. Mine had the spaceship on it- wondering if this was from a real IMAX print though as there's no sound track of any type on it.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
I got a cell of the notebook with the morse code bars and it says "STAY" on it.

Re: Interstellar - March 31
All Nolan movies seem to have some kind of dialogue issues. Either it's understanding Bats in Batman Begins or Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, or understanding a single line of dialog coming out of Ken Watanabe's mouth in Inception, to chunks of dialog in Interstellar. All were crisp and clear in IMAX but hard as hell to understand in standard theaters.
A loud sound system tends to help a lot. |
