well... you've easily got the best organization here. Damn. I'm amazed the wall can hold it.

Question: How tall are you? or How small is that room in height?

Thanks for the compliment. I did initially have some bowing because I tried to align all of the brackets (even with the different length shelves), but I've since fixed that. Just used three brackets per long shelf with some drywall anchors. I forget the length of the screw, but probably 1 1/2" or thereabouts.

Question: How tall are you? or How small is that room in height?
The room is standard height, so that's what, 8'? I'm only about 5'9" or so, so I can only really reach the bottom portion of the top discs, and slide them out. My wife's a little bit shorter and can't even reach the top, but the stuff that's up there doesn't get handled very often.

We're planning on getting a small step-stool, but were having problems finding one that we found aesthetically pleasing. There's one from IKEA that seems nice, but we haven't gone down there to look at it yet.

I've thought about doing that at my place wall shelving like that but... I'm paranoid about how the walls could hold the weight. How big were the screws for the brackets?

The screws were 1 1/2" in length. I don't remember the gauge (or whatever it's called), but they were probably #10's or thereabouts. As I said, I used drywall anchors as well, and there's three screws per bracket. To keep things from falling off the edges, I bought some steel L-brackets and spray-painted them black to match the stain on the wood.

Also, I tried to find wall studs where possible, but think I'm only using one per wall (if memory is correct).

Close-ups of the support brackets
Spoiler:

I'm not very handy, but I had an electric drill and I bought a laser-level and was able to put everything up over the course of a couple weekends. Mrs. Shag handled the staining of the wood. She also had the great idea of putting some small 6x6" cardboard boxes (covered in black construction paper) in the corners so that discs wouldn't fall over and/or be difficult to get to.

Let's do this!

I'm always interested in seeing people's collections, especially when they're super clean and organized.

That is an understatement! Worst part is it sort of makes sense to me, or more correctly, I justify it to myself.

Re: Show us your stuff! (aka how do you store your blu-rays?)

A couple years ago I had nothing but DVDs, I had run out of room on my shelves, and I knew I was going to be getting into BD at some point, so I thinned out my DVDs by about 70 movies and sold them to someone on Craigslist for $100, which freed up a good part of the bottom section. Since then, I've either bought new movies on BD or replaced other DVDs with BD versions. I very, very rarely buy DVDs anymore. Can't even remember the last one I bought.

I might have to thin out some more DVDs, as I'm starting to run out of room for more BDs.

Right. Yeah, that Billy series is wildly popular isn't it? lol.

I have these Bestå shelf units. I've only 660 BDs right now. So that contains the more general size BDs. My bookshelf helps out w/ the big sets.

I have two of these media bookshelf cases in my closet, both are full now so I've got to think about what to do next. Also picked up a couple of prints from Hero Complex Gallery - I like em!

Interesting choice to shelve your blu's upside down on the first and third pics. Do you just do handstands when picking what you want to watch?

Jericho,

Love the blu ray collection and setup, as well as the Hot Toys figures, but you really got to repose some of them. Worst offenders are Man of Steel Superman, whos right leg looks twisted backwards, and the Winter Soldier, whose arms look like they're hunching over onto an invisible walker.

That's why I never got into Hot Toys collecting, I'm AWFUL at posing them. Bought a few, like Jack Sparrow, Sweeny Todd, and Heath Ledger Joker, but sold them all. I'll stick with premium formats.
