Per the BB site, it's not available for store pickup. As a matter of fact, all 3 aren't available for store pickup and all are backordered 2-4 weeks.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

It's out there, but something like one copy per every 10 store, or something ridiculous like that. I'm sure it'll be more available in a couple weeks. Someone must have fallen behind on the production end or something.

It's like the 2-Disc Limited Edition DVD all over again.

I mean seriously, WTF is it with this title? I really don't care if I have to wait until May to get it but really, is it so hard to just get it out there?

EDIT : finally picked this up in store today. Apparently they won't ship this even though they were taking pre-orders for the SKU marked 2/17. I saw it listed as in stock so I got it in my cart for in store pickup but it wouldn't let me check out that way either.

They had about 5 copies in the regular Drama section - didn't see any in the new release islands. Also saw Sneakers there. Didn't look for Andromeda Strain.

Lol WTF. Best Buy is so fucked up. My order was showing back ordered and the product page shows not available for shipping. I did see the charge come through but figured they were just authorizing for when it does ship. I cancelled that order which sucks because I had it locked in at 14.99 and in store it was 17.99 but whatever.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

These titles will eventually hit Amazon after 90-120 days, right? I am not going to go store hopping looking for in-stock copies of Munich and The Andromeda Strain, that is nuts. Reading the last few posts of this thread, it almost makes me wish these titles were released through Twilight Time.

These are in tomorrow's ad for $11.99 each, except Munich is $14.99. A non Criterion version of The Game is also in the exclusive group.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

Well, my BB had a spot for Munich on the shelf, with a sticker and everything, just not the blu-ray itself. I guess one step at a time...

Found one copy of Munich today on an end cap at my local Best Buy, lucky I guess.

I am also a proud owner of the 2 disc Collector's Edition dvd, which is now outdated, but I'm going to keep it anyways for the reminder of the thrill of the search back in the days.

Still no ANDROMEDA STRAIN in sight! Anyone found it yet? And no reviews of that disc online, either!

I guess I'll have to content myself with the German release for now.

Yeah, they finally had Munich (5 copies) at my BB today, and also one copy of Andromeda Strain. You should find it soon enough.

Managed to get the last copies of Munich and Sneakers on Sunday (just after they opened). Watched Sneakers, I thought it looked good!

I'd get these now, but I have a suspicious feeling we'll see them all for under $10 before year's end, since they're hitting all the major retailers in June.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

The review that was linked to The Andromeda Strain...sigh, I suspect the HD streaming of the film on Netflix is as good as we will get for this film (really disappointing that such little care was paid to a blu ray release of a Robert Wise film). I may buy it when it is $10 or less, because I want to own a permanent copy in my collection, but what an anticlimactic release for this film.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

Too bad about ANDROMEDA, another instance of no love put into a release. If Bluray.com only gave it two stars, it must really be bad, as that site is very, very generous on its reviews. Universal thought they could get this one out with a 15-year old transfer, huh? Well, I'll not be taking the bait, even for sub-$10. And this is one of my truly favorite films, so the disappointment is especially keen, although I had set the bar pretty low, which is something I do as a matter of course these days for *any* catalog film which graces us with its presence on Blu-ray.

I'll be holding onto my German import for now. It wasn't that good either, but surely the BB release does not improve on it

Actually, people who have seen the disc disagree with that review. It's not perfect, being an old transfer, but 2 stars was too harsh. 3.5 stars maybe.

Alright, that's encouraging. You've purchased a copy and would rate it a 3.5? Any comparisons to the German release from last year?

Unfortunately I have no way to compare the two.

I found one copy of Sneakers at my local Best Buy. There was a shelf tag for Munich but the space was empty. No sign of Andromeda Strain.

Re: Munich / Sneakers / The Andromeda Strain - 2/17

I just checked the store locater for a copy of The Andromeda Strain. The nearest ones that have a copy are in Muncy (wherever the hell that is) and Pittsburgh (a 3hr drive away). Damn it Best Buy, how am I suppose to buy your exclusive catalog titles when none of your stores around me even stock them?
