True, but when you can profit from something and are still selling it for more than it's worth, I in no way condone it, but I do understand why some people go for downloads rather than pay more than the product is worth. It's relative, of course. Businesses make money, it's what they do. But when they're overcharging for something, I understand bent out of shape consumers. It's sort of like how driving a car off of the dealership lot devalues it thousands of dollars it was never worth to being with. The dealership obviously have to profit from selling the car, but that doesn't make the logistics less irritating. It's one of those annoying adult truths .

full 35mm feature viewing at home would be prohibitively expensive, if the studios ever even allowed it.
I'm close to having that, got a projector and platter in storage, just have to move someplace big enough to set them up!

The popular Fox show Empire has a pre-order link from Amazon.com for a September 8th release but for DVD only so far.

But on a positive note, Archer S6 links went up on Amazon.com but with both DVD and Blu-ray sets.

There's a pre-order for Longmire season 3 on Blu-ray through Amazon and I don't know anyone that got the BD for review. We received the DVD version only.

As far as I know Longmire Season 3 is a DVD-only release.

Oh wow. Sucks for those of who posted the DVD-only PR release months ago. Anyways, I'm glad it's getting a release on BD. It's such a great fucking show.

I think there is a good chance that Empire does get a Blu-ray release.

A lot of the usual suspects and a couple of new shows added to the mix. Sleepy Hollow S2 is interesting because there wasn't huge buzz around season two. Many think it might get canceled from Fox due to falling ratings.

These UK release dates are not 100% definitive.

IIRC last year, several discontinued 2014 Fox tv on bluray titles did have a release date quoted on the UK amazon, but in the end were never releeased. (Such as Bones, etc ...).

(The UK amazon seems to do placeholders slightly differently than the american amazon).

Hawaii Five-0 season 4 was not released on bluray in America.

It's interesting that they went the Warner Archive route for the Longmire bluray season sets (while the dvd versions had a general wide release).

More generally, it wouldn't be too surprising if Warner is using Longmire as a "test market" to see whether Warner Archive is a viable market for other possible future tv on bluray titles.

For example, (hypothetically) if Warner is losing confidence in some of their non-scifi/non-fantasy tv on bluray shows like Person of Interest, The Following, Shameless, etc ..., then in principle there's the option of releasing future seasons through Warner Archive.

Warner Archive can only support so many Blu-ray releases per year.

It appears Glee season 5 may have been released on bluray in Japan.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/Glee-The-Com.../dp/B00MTBRE66

(Glee was discontinued on bluray in America last year, where season 5 was dvd-only).

Japanese branches of the studios make completely independent home video decisions since their market is so different in structure. Germany and Japan often get television shows on Blu-ray that never hit the U.S.

My wife & I planned to likely pay more than usual for a BR release had these made it to the USA. Except for those with only DVD player(s), this series really is a must on BR. But alas.. we gave up .. and at least can see it near HD via Netflix.. I say near as we never quite get the same quality streaming as we do via our BR player. Many factors not including our ISP... but alas.. still much better than DVD...

And these imports are still too rich for our blood.... so Netflix it is .. until/unless/if Paramount get's its head out of the sand and makes these seasons available via BR....

re: Why isn't TV-on-Blu-ray getting any love?

I would agree.

The revived Hawaii Five-0 is one of the few shows I've found which looks a lot better on bluray, than the original cbs broadcasts. Especially the Hawaiian landscape shots looked great on bluray.

In practice, I've found that most tv on bluray shows don't look much better than their HD ota/cable broadcasts. (Especially shows which are visually "dark", such as the revived Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, Person of Interest, Star Trek franchise, etc ...). Other than the bluray image being slightly sharper, etc ...

Most of WB's television Blu-ray sets from last year had compression issues, they decided to lop off one BD per set and compress it down to fit.

This type of Warner laziness isn't just recent. This goes back even further in time, where Warner was always something of a mixed bag.

The picture quality on the revived "V" bluray season sets (from 2010 and 2011) had problems, such as some "pixelation" in diffuse light gradients. This type of problem is frequently encountered in video of smoke, fog, lights shining on a dark wall, etc ...

re: Why isn't TV-on-Blu-ray getting any love?

Warner has had a number of compression problems over the years on Blu-ray.

Television on Blu-ray isn't dead yet in Japan. The Complete Knight Rider box set is available in the Land of the Rising Sun.

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B...g=bluraycom-22

http://knightrider-tv.jp/

There is no chance this will get released in America.
