The Best Buy exclusive Steelbook of The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition did not include a 2D copy of the movie.

I don't suppose anyone bought the Blu and is interested in freely giving away their HD UV code ? Yeah, didn't think anyone around here was that dumb . So how are the extras, for those who bought it? Anything interesting at all?

Doesn't seem like anything worth getting excited for. Singer likes to do a movie commentary. And we're being held off on the goods I'm sure. I await the Extended BD.

Deleted Scenes (1080p; 5:36) offer optional commentary by Bryan Singer.

Kitchen Sequence (1080p; 6:28) is a grabbag of snippets including some audio of Singer explaining how he had to direct via texting for part of this sequence.

Gag Reel (1080p; 5:40)

Double Take: Xavier & Magneto (1080p; 11:51) focuses on the quartet playing these characters at different ages.

X-Men: Reunited (1080p; 9:47) looks at the genesis of this project and how Singer wanted to reunite the original cast again.

Classification: M (1080p; 11:54) profiles some of the other supporting mutants in the film.

Sentinels: For a Secure Future (1080p; 9:19) focuses on (to cop a phrase from J.J. Abrams) bad robots.

Gallery: Trask Industries includes:
Mutant Experiments
Blueprints
Sentinel Construction
Theatrical Trailers (1080p; 7:09)

Second Screen App allows for additional content.

Sneak Peak of Exodus: Gods and Kings (1080p; 1:26) is at least skippable, unlike the teaser for this film which starts automatically on the disc and cannot be skipped or chapter skipped through (only fast forward works).

As a minor warning, the steelbook at Target does not contain a DVD copy (for those that use them)

Fox dropped the dvd on their recent new releases. It's just the BD with digital version now.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall

I decided to pick up the steelbook of this from Target since I like the cover art better than what was used on the standard version. Plus Target was like $5 less than Walmart which is where I originally planned to get it.

Wanted to nab a copy of The Wolverine steelbook too since it was only $8 but they were out.

Loved watching the movie on Blu-Ray.

They should have kept QuickSilver with them, he a big help.

It might be the best XMen movie, or just below Xmen 2.

I guess I don't know enough to care. I don't really buy them very often anyways.

I learned the hard way that Metalpaks are much cheaper than Steelbooks. I dropped one and the plastic hinges holding the case together broke off and cant be put back together.

What actually makes them different from each other? I never heard of metalpak till like last year or early this year.

I'm mixed on the overall movie, but the Quicksilver scene in the kitchen is easily the best thing in any X movie.

Here's an image I found that covers the main difference:

They also look different when opened up: Steelbooks have an inner spine where the artwork can continue, while Futurepak/Metalpak sets don't have that. Here's the Days of Future Past Target exclusive, which ended up missing some of the design work in the middle because of the different casing. You can see this at the 2:40 mark in this video:

Nice price so soon after release, but will wait for the Director's Cut.

Yeah. I really like this one. But.... I want the DC. But...$9.99... grah. Fortunately it is the issue of getting taxed here now that pushes me aways from it...for now. NOW if it went lower and was still under $10 w/ tax? I'd buy it.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall

I picked up the 3D version from FoxConnect for $16. Figured when (if) they released the extended version, we don't know if it's going to be both in 2D and/or 3D and have no idea how much it's going to be. Just like The Wolverine, the 3D version that includes the extended cut rarely goes on sale, so if the extended version doesn't drop under $15, I wouldn't pick it up.

I just always wait to buy these until the next movie comes out. Then I get a cheap price and a free ticket for the new one in the theater.

Over 11 minutes longer. Nice!

Here's a bit more info from a higher-up within Fox's home entertainment division, who also confirmed the Summer 2015 release date:

@FinnJ Will it have the regular cut aswell?

@DOFPXmen no. Distinct film. Distinct extras. Complimentary to DOFP Blu-ray but not repetitive.

Cool, we knew this was coming but glad there appears to be a decent amount of footage. Although if all of it is just the Rogue scene, i'm not sure if it's worth rebuying unless the other extras are good.

As my wife is a huge Rogue fan, I will be buying it no matter the extras.....
