Yes, folks should wait if they have the patience.

Also per the variety link
“We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film — behind the camera, and in front of it,” with the “Rogue Cut” and provide “more of the process we went through” to make the film." which would mean we could get an extensive documentary on the making of the film as well |
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Hopefully they don't pull crap like have the "Rouge" cut available via the 3D set but in 2D (see The Wolverine)

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
I thought I heard that only some scenes were native.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
The Target Metalpak will be $17.99 (they will also have the other Metalpaks for the rest of the movies for $8). The 3D gift set at Best Buy will be $22.99. I think I'm still waiting until next year to grab the extended cut, but those prices aren't too bad. You could go nuts at Target and end up with the entire Metalpak collection for $66 :)

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Any word on when the extended cut will hit shelves? That's what I really want. I am actually tempted to wait until after Apocalypse is released and see if they release a deluxe set with both trilogies and the Wolverines, of course I could do without the first Wolvie movie, but there's no way they would exclude it because so many think it sucks.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
With the news of an extended cut I might just wait on this now. Unless the price is low enough I might just wait and see if its on sale on Black Friday.

Amazon has now lowered their 3D price to $22.99.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
I'll prob grab the steelie because I'm a sucker...

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Metalpack does not equal Steelbook. No thanks.
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
even though i am still slightly a sucker, i much rather prefer regular cases with or without slips. the SteelBook™ and now these damn Magnocases are just too darn heavy for my storage drawers. really becoming a drag...

You need better furniture.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Solid audio, video, and 3D transfer, but lean on the extras. Yeah, I think I have enough willpower to rent for now and pick up the extended edition next year

The Wolverine was a 3D conversion. X-Men: Days of Future Past is native 3D. I'd be surprised if the "Rogue Cut" is in 2D only.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Are there any exclusive features on the store exclusives?
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Would the Best Buy 3D exclusive include the 2d Blu and HD Digital copy? Wanted to be sure before I pre-order. Thanks.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
The Best Buy exclusive Steelbook of The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition did not include a 2D copy of the movie.

I don't suppose anyone bought the Blu and is interested in freely giving away their HD UV code ;)? Yeah, didn't think anyone around here was that dumb ;). So how are the extras, for those who bought it? Anything interesting at all?

Deleted Scenes (1080p; 5:36) offer optional commentary by Bryan Singer. Kitchen Sequence (1080p; 6:28) is a grabbag of snippets including some audio of Singer explaining how he had to direct via texting for part of this sequence. Gag Reel (1080p; 5:40) Double Take: Xavier & Magneto (1080p; 11:51) focuses on the quartet playing these characters at different ages. X-Men: Reunited (1080p; 9:47) looks at the genesis of this project and how Singer wanted to reunite the original cast again. Classification: M (1080p; 11:54) profiles some of the other supporting mutants in the film. Sentinels: For a Secure Future (1080p; 9:19) focuses on (to cop a phrase from J.J. Abrams) bad robots. Gallery: Trask Industries includes: Mutant Experiments Blueprints Sentinel Construction Theatrical Trailers (1080p; 7:09) Second Screen App allows for additional content. Sneak Peak of Exodus: Gods and Kings (1080p; 1:26) is at least skippable, unlike the teaser for this film which starts automatically on the disc and cannot be skipped or chapter skipped through (only fast forward works). |
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
As a minor warning, the steelbook at Target does not contain a DVD copy (for those that use them)
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Fox dropped the dvd on their recent new releases. It's just the BD with digital version now.
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
I decided to pick up the steelbook of this from Target since I like the cover art better than what was used on the standard version. Plus Target was like $5 less than Walmart which is where I originally planned to get it.
Wanted to nab a copy of The Wolverine steelbook too since it was only $8 but they were out. :( |
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Not Steelbooks, they are Metalpaks. Yes, there is a difference :)
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Loved watching the movie on Blu-Ray.
They should have kept QuickSilver with them, he a big help. It might be the best XMen movie, or just below Xmen 2. |

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Yeah, it's all pretty much the same thing.
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
I learned the hard way that Metalpaks are much cheaper than Steelbooks. I dropped one and the plastic hinges holding the case together broke off and cant be put back together.
|
Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
What actually makes them different from each other? I never heard of metalpak till like last year or early this year.

http://hdmag.cz/files/images/man-of-...uturepak-2.JPG They also look different when opened up: Steelbooks have an inner spine where the artwork can continue, while Futurepak/Metalpak sets don't have that. Here's the Days of Future Past Target exclusive, which ended up missing some of the design work in the middle because of the different casing. You can see this at the 2:40 mark in this video: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wR2WFWLmRak" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Nice price so soon after release, but will wait for the Director's Cut.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
Yeah. I really like this one. But.... I want the DC. But...$9.99... grah. Fortunately it is the issue of getting taxed here now that pushes me aways from it...for now. NOW if it went lower and was still under $10 w/ tax? I'd buy it.

Re: X-Men: Days of Future Past Blu - Late Summer/Fall
I picked up the 3D version from FoxConnect for $16. Figured when (if) they released the extended version, we don't know if it's going to be both in 2D and/or 3D and have no idea how much it's going to be. Just like The Wolverine, the 3D version that includes the extended cut rarely goes on sale, so if the extended version doesn't drop under $15, I wouldn't pick it up.
