I doubt it, that would add more licensing costs to an already expensive set. Let's hope that Shout Factory doesn't mess this set up as much as they did with the Bruce Lee box.

What didn't you like about them?
How did you score that good of a deal for the Friday the 13th set? I haven't seen it ever drop that low.

Will the TV cuts be pan & scan/full frame, since they were put together for a TV presentation? When those additional scenes were shot for the TV version (of the first Halloween), were they framed with a 4:3 screen in mind?

Likewise, IMDB says that scenes for Halloween II were time-compressed for television - there's no reason to do that on DVD, but I wonder if that's the only version that exists.

The DVD of the TV cut of the first movie is 16x9 widescreen. I seem to recall they filmed the footage on the set of the second movie.
I also seem to remember that the original DVD was just the theatrical cut with the new footage slotted in, without the cutting for gore, etc.

Thanks! Although the idea of a TV cut without the gore/language (although I don't remember there being too much language in the original) was kind of appealing - just to see how it was edited.

I only own the current 35th anniversary release, so all the other discs will be brand-new to me (one of the reasons I jumped at this set).

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

I wonder if they would bother to correct the mono mix on the first film, and include it uncompressed this time around? The mix on the 35th Anniversary release is sadly lacking thanks to some major volume issues along with missing sound effects and such, and the surround mix is no better.

I'd love to see the original mono mix be treated with respect and included at the highest quality possible.

And how about "Halloween 25 Years of Terror" and all the extras that had.

Imagine they included every extra from every release of every film. One can dream.....

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

The jury is still out for me... I pretty much own everything in this set already except for H6 Producer's Cut and the TV cuts on Blu-ray. But as of right now, we do not know what kind of release those will be (DVD or Blu).

I'd love for this to be a must-buy for me, but I'll have to wait for more announcements to know for sure. $119 s kind of a lot for just the Producer's Cut.

Now, if that recently discovered behind-the-scenes footage surfaces in this set, I'm SOLD.

Later, Anchor Bay re-released the extended cut on its own with a new transfer that came from a workprint. It was much better than the first DVD, but still a mess. The alternate footage looked really rough, and the whole transfer suffered serious edge enhancement and DNR issues. But it was at least slightly more watchable than the last copy.

I would like this set but Since I already own two copies of H1, 2 copies of H2, and then Zombie's H, I don't know if I will bite on this or not. I would like to see it around the $80 mark that I got the Friday The 13th set for.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

The television version of Halloween and the Producer's Cut of Halloween 6 will be 1080p as they both exist in 35mm.

From what Brian Collins has said, Shout Factory is spearheading this entire set whereas Anchor Bay is acting as distributor. That's the trade-off as both have equal equity in this set.

If I had to take a guess, here's how the set most likely might play out:

Disc 1: Halloween.
Disc 2: Halloween (Television Cut) plus additional bonus materials.
Disc 3: Halloween II (Television Cut).
Disc 4: Halloween II.
Disc 5: Halloween III.
Disc 6: Halloween 4.
Disc 7: Halloween 5.
Disc 8: Halloween 6
Disc 9: Halloween 6 (Producer's Cut) plus additional bonus material.
Disc 10: Halloween: H20.
Disc 11: Halloween: Resurrection.
Disc 12: Halloween (2007 theatrical cut).
Disc 13: Halloween (2007 unrated cut) plus additional bonus material.
Disc 14: Halloween II (2009 theatrical cut).
Disc 15: Halloween II (2009 unrated cut) plus additional bonus material.

That's great news about Anchor Bay being the distributor, it will likely mean a good price can eventually be had on this set. There was no chance of that if Scream had been the distributor.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the price on the set drops before street. Their four-disc set of Battle Royale went for 50% off prior to release.

All I've ever cared for is the first film. Concerning the video/audio presentation of just the feature film itself, how do the cheaper 9.99 version (with poster art cover) and 35th Anniversary Edition differ?

Get the 35th Anniversary edition and don't even think about it. It's a reference, state-of-the-art film transfer. A few complain about the color timing not being 100% accurate to the original presentation, but it's a very petty complaint in my opinion.

Exactly what the correct color-timing is is debatable given how many times Cundey has jerked it around.

Just ordered the 35Th anniversary steelbook from the UK.
The hype and enthusiasm for the Uber set was contagious. But since I don't care about the sequels, and never bought the 35th (Ann.) release, this seemed like a good a time as any. Love that there is no BS on the cover of the steelbook- just the film title/logo and key art. My inner 12 year old is going ape-shit, even if my outer 47 year old knows it will still be a while before he has an urge to watch this again.

As far as the color timing. I remember seeing this in the theater but can't recall any attributes about the color. What I can see for the most part seems fine, but I'm not sure it's any more authentic to what I originally saw than the other versions. The one exception might be the scene with Loomis having the confrontation with the administrator as he leaves the mental hospital which looks to be timed considerably cooler than I ever remembered it.

My thoughts exactly. They can sit on my coffee table right next to disc 4 of the Indiana Jones set.

Zombie's Halloween II might not be just the worst Halloween entry, but one of the worst films I've seen in theaters.

Yeah Zombie's Halloween II is definitely one of the worst films I've seen in theaters and just a terrible film in general. It most likely will sit in the case unwatched once I own this.

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

I hate the Rob Zombie movies. I would pay this much for the set, even pay more, if it didn't have those two movies in it. Guess I'll just have to get blu-rays of 1, 2, 4, and 5.

You would pay more for a set that had less movies than this one instead of just getting this one and just watching the ones you want.

I don't want to pay more. But if it meant that I could get a set without the Rob Zombie movies, I would. It would SO be worth it.
