This had its good and bads, and it wasn't anywhere near slapstick as the first, but I still enjoyed it. I'll pick it up to check out the alternate cuts and extras.

so the PG-13 version is 118 inutes, the R rated version is 141 minutes, and the unrated is 122, yeah that makes sense. Wonder what the unrated verison has that the R rated does not

No idea, but since the PG-13 and Unrated versions are on the same disc, I suspect the Unrated one is done via seamless branching. The R-rated version is on its own disc.

Wait there's a PG-13 version? Seems weird they'd cut it down for the Blu-ray but also include the original R rated cut and an unrated cut. I'll probably get this though, it wasn't quite as good as the original but still enjoyable enough.

The PG-13 version is the theatrical one. The Unrated cut is based off of that. The R version swapped out 700+ jokes with alternate takes/cuts. Sort of how they had "Wake Up, Ron Burgandy" that was assembled from the cutting room of the original Anchorman.

Ah, for some reason I was thinking that it was released as R. That's the only rating IMDB lists so I figured that was for the theatrical cut.

Re: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues 4/1/14 contains 3 versions of movie

Yeah, the PG-13 is theatrical, the Unrated is basically the PG-13 one with a few more f-bombs and a couple alternative scenes, the R version is the extended alternate version of the movie (haven't seen it yet).

IMO, this movie is great for the first 90 minutes, then falls apart for about 20 minutes or so. Worth watching though, there is some great stuff in the first 90 (only watched the R version, not the PG-13).

This is all very confusing. I didn't see this in theaters. Which should I watch first?

Probably the Unrated

Heard the new cut was all over the place and the new jokes weren't that funny

If you value your free time -- even a little -- none of them. This movie was awful and compared to the first it was obviously a cash grab.

What's also kind of crazy is that with all of these alternate cuts, there are still over 90 minutes of additional deleted/extended scenes

That's how they shoot these movies. They improv for hours and hours, and then stitch the best footage together in post production.

also per the blu ray bonus features, there are table reads, so indeed there is an actual script and i'm sure they do a 'scripted' take, then go & improv different versions

Not sure. Bluray.com has it listed as a 4 disc blu ray set. So if that's accurate, it should be the 2 disc version of the first movie and the second movie, and just missing the DVD version of the second movie.

if that ends up being the case, thats where i'll go (don't have the first movie on blu)

speaking of the first movie, per blu-ray.com the extras are in 480p, but are the deleted/extended scenes anamorphic? that's one of my complaints on the dvd version
