I saw it mentioned on Blu-ray.com that apparently the Black Maria edition has a bonus disk that is a recording of the hour long interview William Friedkin did with Tobe Hooper at one of the Anniversary screenings.

I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned at all in any of the press releases.

For anyone who is looking for this at a B&M store, check your local Best Buy.

I got the 4-Disc Edition at my local Best Buy. It wasn't on the floor, but they looked it up by SKU and there were 2 in their system. Priced at $19.99!

Here is the SKU # for anyone interested (7566074)

I've always thought the original blows. I like the one with Jessica Biel.

Sorry. I call them like I see them. Watching the original Chain Saw Massacre, I said WTF? These retards can't even act. Get that piece of shit out of here.

The remake has Jessica Biel, looking very hot. And R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket). REAL ACTORS.

That's exactly why I like the original. It doesn't feel like a bunch of actors. They aren't faces I know from anything else. It feels so gritty, overblown, and grainy that it felt like watching a snuff film.

I've shown it to many people who couldn't even make it through the whole film because of how hot and sweaty, and claustrophobic it feels. Some of them started feeling nauseous even before any of the gore.

The closest thing I've ever felt to this in modern times is when I saw House of 1,000 Corpses in the theatre.

I actually really do like the remake. But the original has been, and will be for the foreseeable future, my favorite horror movie.

It's not a terrible remake, it simply lacks the raw grit and terror of the original. They have a much tougher time establishing a convincing mood in the remake since everyone looks like an actor on a set.

I am a very big fan of the Biel/Brewster remake/prequel versions but let's not fuck around. The OG is a classic and to a certain extend, so is part 2.

Re: Orig Texas Chain Saw Massacre gets 4K restoration, blu late 2014

To my surprise, I actually like quite a few aspects of the remake.
The biggest problem I have with it is Biel's sports bra is glaringly anachronistic. the film does a decent job of getting across an early 70's vibe, but for anyone that was around for that era, that one visual note constantly breaks the spell.

I saw the original at a midnight screening in High School. Haven't re-visited since and haven't really cared to until now. The set looks good. My only disappointment is they didn't use the dead armadillo illo for the jacket art.

So there's a version of it w/o the DVDs? Does it have everything that the BDs have in the bigger set?
