Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection

Is there a version of the Hitchcock set that doesn't have the idiotic packaging ? According to this youtube review..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wd4N052QByY
There is a set with proper packaging. How do I find this version ? Apparently, it's from New Zealand. Also, the version from Australia seems to have proper packaging. How can I get the Australian version ?

Not sure about New Zealand, but the UK box set is better packaged than the American versions, is cheaper, and can be easily imported from Amazon UK if you have a regular Amazon account.

This set doesn't have North by Northwest, but that's available separately in the U.S. anyway.

If you want North By Northwest as well, you can also get this collection that has it and also Dial M for Murder and Strangers on a Train:

Are those the same transfers as we got here?

How is that UK set you posted about better packaged than the US version ? From the pictures, it looks like it has the same crappy discs sliding into sleeves thing as the US set.

I believe the European release had plastic trays rather than sleeving. The German edition did for sure from what I can see of the youtube unboxing videos. I bought the big UK Limited version so I can't vouch. I already had the US North by Northwest digibook.

How about one in film tins?

Interesting, but the UK Collectors Edition, while nice, is annoying to pull the discs from that book. Individual tins would be much worse I would think. But this one does have NXNW in it. Where's this set from?

My bad, it didn't pull up the first time I tried to click it. Damn iOS 7. Damn that is an expensive set. So Universal UK released 2 different collectors editions? I've never heard of that before.

Looks like it will have To Catch a Thief as well. Interesting, but I already have it on blu so I'll stick with my old UK set.

According to this video, it has the same substandard packaging as the US set. Looks like I'll have to track down the set from New Zealand....

Well, apparently the New Zealand and Australia sets are region B. Oh, well. Guess I'm sticking with the dvds, or the blu-rays if these come out by themselves....

That is stupidly expensive... but I want it so bad.

^^^I think it will drop to about £120 when it's released. If we're lucky (and if it isn't sold out yet) it might go even lower on or after Black Friday.

Germany is also releasing that new set. I think I can pass on this one even though I'd rather have the Vertigo plastic cover instead of the Birds.

Since it seems that the US and UK/European sets are completely f-ed, I'm going to pick up the set from Australia eventually. It's only about 80 dollars and has proper packaging.

For those that are interested in the new collection, there are some new pictures of how the set is put together at Amazon.co.uk

What is proper packaging and are there any pictures of it on the web?
