Palisades/Tartan Announce "Black Collection"; A Tale of Two Sisters: 10/22/13

Day one. Long overdue.

Also coming: A re-release of Oldboy with the 3-hour video diary. Looks like it'll have the 7.1 Master Audio track, too.

Triple dip on Oldboy just in time for the new film. Pass. Original release then box set so I could get the better, other films. Not again.

At the very bottom of the link you posted, it says that Oldboy will have the 7.1 track. Basically, it will have everything from both the individual release and the Vengeance Trilogy release.

Hah! Missed the text at the very bottom there. I was a little preoccupied with A Tale of Two Sisters.

Good deal. I made a correction in the original post.

Re: Palisades/Tartan Announce "Black Collection"; A Tale of Two Sisters: 10/22/13

I ended up picking up the Vengeance Trilogy for $20.49 from Amazon. So I'm not going to buy Oldboy a third fucking time just to get a lossless track. I previously owned the LE DVD tin that I sold for twice as much as I paid for it.

However, I will pick up A Tale of Two Sisters when I can get it for cheap.

Hopefully Tartan will release more films on Blu-ray rather than not hearing from them for another few years when they decide to release two more discs.

Hopefully A Tale Of Two Sisters is a new transfer. The UK BD from 2009 has atrocious picture quality.
Worse than the DVD <- No hyperbole.

^ Never did get the UK and never did hear that the UK BD was that bad.

This is a day 1 purchase. Here's hoping Bittersweet Life comes soon thereafter.

I remember reading that as well. I also hope this is a new transfer.

Great movie but I'll wait for reviews before upgrading my Tartan DVD. I have Tartan's Triad Trilogy on blu and it is an atrocious transfer to say the least.

Re: Palisades/Tartan Announce "Black Collection"; A Tale of Two Sisters: 10/22/13

from bluray.com
I picked up a copy of this at New York Comic Con today. Haven't watched it yet so can't comment on transfer, but its a single disc release and the features listing is as follows:

Audio commentary with Chan-wook Park, Chung-hoon Chung, and Cast
10 Deleted Scenes with optional commentary
Original trailer
5 behind the scenes documentaries
Cast and crew interviews
Featurette: "Le Grand Prix at Cannes"
"The Autobiography of Oldboy" a 3 hour video diary.

Specs say its in Korean with English Subtitles and Dubs.

Palisades Tartan Asia Extreme release in a black case with a cardboard slip cover. No booklet in the copy I got.

if indeed this is the same disc as the box set, then its a skip (no lossless audio

Re: Palisades/Tartan Announce "Black Collection"; A Tale of Two Sisters: 10/22/13

The transfer is the same between the original Blu-ray release and the re-release of Oldboy that came out in the Vengeance boxset.

Do you prefer lossless sound? Get the original release.

Do you prefer maintaining all of the bonus materials from the original three-disc DVD set? Purchase the box set.

If the new disc does in fact have DTS HD-MA 7.1, everyone wins.

If the new disc still has a lossy 5.1 track, meh, it's not the end of the world. Pick your poison. This is Tartan we're talking about here, I'm expecting the worst case scenario to happen.
