Chucky: The Complete Collection (1988-2013) - 10-08-2013
Saw that Amazon had a listing for this. Not a ton of details yet but it looks like it'll include all of the original films plus the new Curse of Chucky film. I believe it's the first time that Child's Play 2, Child's Play 3, and Bride of Chucky have been available on Blu-ray. The price isn't bad either $59.49 for the entire set so I'll probably pick it up. A lot of good horror stuff coming for Halloween this year.

Hopefully they won't gimp it like they did the DVD set with R rated versions when Unrated ones exist.

Looks like Universal licensed the first film away from MGM. Nice.
This is all 5 'original' films and the new one.
I'll but at $40ish.

I've only seen the first one. I'm definitely interested in this though. Are the sequels any good (or at least, as good as a sequel to a movie about a killer doll can be)?

Child's Play is the best one if you ask me. The second and third films are pretty good too. I don't really care much for Bride of Chucky or Seed of Chucky. The new film Curse of Chucky looks like it'll be good though.

Curse of Chucky looks awfully cheap, but that has not stopped certain films from being good before. I just hope they won't CGI Chucky too much (looks like his face is CGI over in a couple of shots in the trailer). Also let's hope Don Mancini learned how to direct a decent movie since the last time.

Only Seed of Chucky was released unrated of all the films in the series, until Curse... of course. However, the unrated version of Seed... was a joke and not worth watching in my opinion. So it's not really an issue if that version was not included on the blu-ray. However, both versions may be included since Universal does that with plenty of unrated releases, but not all. Some titles like Dawn of the Dead and Doomsday only contain the unrated versions.

Here's how it went: Part 2 was your typical horror sequel, though the climax is pretty good. 3 had its moments but again, it was typical horror sequel fare. Bride Of Chucky came along in the post-Scream era, and took the series from straight horror to horror-comedy. It was actually a good mix and brought some life to the series. Unfortunately, Seed Of Chucky went way off the rails and became a parody of a horror movie. And we're not talking Airplane or Naked Gun parody, we're talking Date Movie parody. It's about as far as you can get from the original, and still be part of the same franchise.

If it weren't for the new film with a higher MSRP than what the catalog titles in this set would fetch, I'm sure this would be much more reasonably priced. By hook or by crook, they're getting far too much for a sequel no-one really asked for, if any of us want to see most of these flicks on HD disc for the first time.

Overall, looks like a pretty good review

And it looks like those that ordered through DD yesterday are getting their copies shipped for $27.99

yes both Seed and Curse are unrated in this box set.
reading several reviews for Curse - they seem to be favorable
I guess this is why it's a limited release - Universal could only release the first 'Chucky' film for a limited time.

The older Chucky DVD collection had its packaging changed too- first printings had a raised-plastic Chucky on the front, later ones were a boring old keepcase.

Times have changed. I want $25 now.
Far too many box sets can be had for $20.

Those who didn't snag this, it's being repackaged with CULT OF CHUCKY next month.
Same release with new film and packaging

Despite being the thread creator for the original complete collection set I wound up not getting it so I ordered a copy of this new edition. I sort of dislike buying "complete" collections that are only temporarily complete but I want the films and only have the first one via the Scream Factory release. For $45 getting all the films including the new one seems like a decent deal.
