The cover art isn't the issue. The issue is with the shitty packaging.

That is some truly bad packaging. Damn. I'll pass for now. Was going to grab it at Best Buy last night but looked at this thread first. Thanks!

Agreed. It's annoying when they mess up packaging, but as long as it doesn't scratch the discs and the content itself is good, I usually let it slide.

The digibook, on the other hand, is terrible. It doesn't have the plastic "plate" to hold the disc, it's just a paper sleeve glued to the back cover of the digibook. I thought the package looked awful thin when I picked it up at the store but didn't realize why until I opened it.

Oh well, I'm looking forward to revisiting the film in October.
I saw this yesterday at Target and looked at it closely for the first time. I thought it felt really cheap when I picked it up and the artwork is still terribly ugly. I'm going to wait and see if a standard case version is released or for this to drop in price. For now I have my original Anchor Bay release on Blu-ray plus the DVD that has the theatrical and television cuts that came out in like 1999 or so and am not in a huge rush to upgrade.

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD

After the the billionth time from VHS to Blu Ray, Anchor Bay never released the movie with this theatrical poster as the cover

Now should of been that time.

What's your problem with the packaging? This digibook actually looks a little cooler than the typical ones from Fox or Warner Bros.

1080P screenshots and review for this set:

Didn't look or feel that way at all to me. Felt really light and chintzy in person to me. The Warner ones are usually really nice, Universal uses basically the same design for theirs.

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD

The problem with the packaging is that the disc slides into a thin paper sleeve on the very back of the case, which everyone who knows about movie packaging will tell you is idiotic.

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD

As with the pan-and-scam vs OAR war, which we finally won, we'll have to fight harder for studios to "get" the fact that we want our catalog titles released with decent packaging and Original one-sheet cover art... I think we'll be losing that battle, as it's too late in the game now, but we'll have to speak with my wallets, as I'm doing on this release.

Usually, I couldn't care less about the packaging and / or cover art (I want a stellar picture, well-encoded and high-bitrate feature film), but this is HALLOWEEN we're talking about! Same goes for most beloved catalog titles.

The poster is exactly why they never used it for a cover....

The link is broken, it won't show the picture.

Oh well, I quite like the digibook packaging anyhow.

Better than what's out now, but to each his own. Ill just wait for this to drop in price down the road. I can do so little with so many copies of this movie in my collection.

Re: Halloween 35th Anniversary BD

Someone should just copy and paste the photo instead of linking. I had to login that other site to actually see the fucking thing. Also, I don't have a Wal-Mart near me, so I'd have to order it and do a store pick up and even that would be going out of my way and a gamble.
