Low sales will probably just make them think that nobody wants any movies more than a year old on Blu-Ray anymore, but they might get the message if someone shits on their lawn.

Paramount currently has film rights.

If I lived near WB I would walk on over and take a big dump on their lawn because that's what they put together in this set.
These companies need to stop milking fans with the same shit over and over. It's like WB took a page out of Paramount's 'How to screw over fans' book.
While I want the F13 series to do well in sales because I am a fan, I hope sales for this set are low and that WB see why they are low.
Why would they spend a ton of money for a release which is not going to sell much? That's silly nowadays. Best Buy is probably the only major retailer that will even stock this (for the time being - the set is so large I can see them sending back unsold copies n 30-45 days).

Have you been to a Best Buy lately? My "horror" section is about 30 films, half of them being DVD. It's pathetic. I have a bigger selection!

Hopefully, these will come out on their own soon, so I don't have to deal with the incredibly substandard packaging....

Saw this at Best Buy, but couldnt pull the trigger. Again, the tin case has no spine text/logo/art. So on the shelf you will just get a shiny black spine.

There aren't that many shiny black tin cased movies, I'm sure. So, there's that. But you could also keep it on display, or in with your Friday the 13th collection so you'd always know what it is.

Right, makes much more sense to put it out the way it is and sell even less. What they're doing is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

99% of the public doesn't give a shit about a missing commentary or 7 extra seconds of gore in the 9th Jason film.

I'm hoping for a UK set of the movies in a slimmer case.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Warner has the rights to the Paramount sequels in the UK.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

You can get the set for $69.99 from WBshop according to this:

http://www.kumbuya.com/content/want-to-get-20-off/

Want to slice $20 off the cost of the Complete Collection Blu-ray set? Check out this tip from my friend Tony, which will help ya do just that! "If you go to WBshop.com, add the Friday the 13th blu ray set to your cart (which is listed at 85 bucks. Anyway, it automatically qualifies for free shipping at that point. When you go to check out, enter this coupon code WBAFSAVE10 and you'll get 10 bucks off. Then enter CHIEFWB in the coupon box and get an additional 5 bucks off. So basically, you'll save 20 total considering it still qualifies for free shipping. 69.99 before tax."

Awesome tip! $6 a movie is the right price for me.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I'm weak.

I did sell my previous 3 Blu-rays for $25 and I do have the Triple Pack to sell now...

At $70, I'm more than tempted. I'm also quite broke at the moment.

Yep, I caved. I can't see this set going a lot lower than $6 a disc in the near future and I wanted to marathon these along with the Crystal Lake documentary in October. So fuck it. I paid not much less than that to take my family to see Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D at the theater, so it is what it is.

So now...to have everything, I need to acquire a DVD of the uncut version of JGTH (got rid of it long ago) and I need to keep my old BD of the uncut version of the first movie, correct?

No. The first movie is the uncut version (it, along with 2 and 3) are the same exact discs Paramount released.

Also, if you're into features, you'll need to keep the Friday the 13th Part 3 disc in the "From Crystal Lake to Manhattan" Ultimate Edition DVD Collection set which contains a commentary which, for some reason, Paramount never carried over to the Deluxe Edition DVD and Blu-ray...

Looks like I won't be buying this set. Do it right the first time or don't do it at all.
Why would the unrated cut not be there? If this is released by New Line, wouldn't they have the uncut release?

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.

I guess I'm part of the problem if low sales suggest disinterest but I really don't want to pay a bunch of money for a set with a lot of stuff I'm not interested in. I think I'm going to hold out for either steep discounts, a smaller set of 1-8 or 3 packs of 1/2/3, 4/5/6 and 7/8/9 and then get those. All I really want are the 8 Paramount movies on Blu-ray, and I've held off on 1-3 to this point because I was waiting for them to do all of them but there's just so much here that I know I'll never watch.

Pretty good deal. Thinking about picking a copy up now for that price.
